Roof Felt and Batten Replacement (Tiles Reused)
This project involves the careful removal and reinstatement of the existing roof tiles to allow for the replacement of the underlying roofing components. All tiles will be stripped by hand and set aside for reuse, ensuring minimal damage and preserving the original appearance of the roof.
Once the tiles are removed, the existing battens and roofing felt (underlay) will be fully stripped and disposed of in accordance with current regulations. The roof structure will then be inspected for any signs of damage or deterioration. Any defective timbers identified during this stage will be reported and, if required, replaced or repaired before proceeding.
A new breathable roofing membrane will be installed across the rafters, providing improved weather resistance and ventilation. New treated timber battens will then be fixed in line with current building standards, ensuring correct spacing and alignment for the reinstallation of the tiles.
The original tiles will be refitted onto the new battens, with any damaged or unsuitable tiles replaced where necessary to maintain the integrity of the roof covering. Ridge tiles will be re-bedded or mechanically fixed depending on the agreed specification.
All works will be carried out in accordance with relevant building regulations and best roofing practices. The finished roof will provide enhanced protection against the elements while retaining the existing aesthetic of the property.
