For Jasmine…

When the Royal Mail don’t deliver your cake charm, you improvise!

Unfortunately, the gold cake charm of ‘Jasmine is 12’ didn’t arrive (despite ordering over a week ago) due to the strikes so a simple ‘Jasmine’ on the cake board has to be this cakes alternative. The brief was - sage green ombré with gold leaf. I wanted to add some decor that I hadn’t used before and decided to try the rice paper effect, which gave a beautiful, wavy ribbon style to the edge of the cake.

I’m really happy with the outcome and will be using rice paper again… just wish the cake charm had arrived in time! 🤦🏼‍♀️

When I was asked to make this cake, I had to giggle as I hadn’t really made a body cake before, especially a raunchy one, but this was great fun! I even had to ask my mum and husband whether the shape of the b***s and torso looked proportionate.

This cake was chocolate sponge with creamy chocolate ganache and lots of chocolate buttercream to achieve the desired shape. The little model of KR diving into the b***y cleavage was described in detail, even down to his usual attire of navy t-shirt and shorts.

Who doesn’t love a Unicorn Cake 🦄?!

This 8’’ 4 layer Victoria sponge Unicorn cake was made for Isabella’s 9th birthday.

With lots of pastels on its’ mane and its’ magical gold horn, this was a fairy tale cake for the party princess.

This cake was made during my first pregnancy for my colleagues fiancés 30th birthday! It was one of my first drip cakes and so much fun to make!

I look back and see so many things I’d do differently now though. The consistency of the drips aren’t thick enough; the board would definitely need covering in white fondant and there’s a bit of sponge showing through the buttercream.

It’s good to be critical and that’s why I like looking over my older cake photos... there’s always room for improvement and to develop and learn.

21 (cough cough) again!

So this 6’’ tower cake was made for a seventieth 🤫 birthday celebration!

With fresh eucalyptus and cream roses, the acrylic cake topper states ‘21 again’ which was a must. The lady’s daughter ordered a Victoria sponge with strawberry jam and creamy vanilla buttercream.

I really do love making these type of cakes. Simple, classic and beautiful.
