With SuperPA working for you on a virtual basis there are so many benefits; you get to focus on what you are good at and what you want to spend your time on and I will do the work you need in order to support you and your business, you only pay for the hours you need me to work for you, no PAYE, no holiday pay, no maternity pay - although I can guarantee that type of leave will never happen again 😁

For me, I get to work from home or wherever I choose but when I'm working from home I get to spend time with my wonderful assistant called Mosh ☺️

It's been some time since I posted. That's a good thing in one way for me as it has meant that I've been busy!

Here is the latest job I've been working on: a website for a high-end holiday rental apartment in Italy. This beautifully newly renovated three bedroom apartment has just opened its doors. Located in the historic centre of the ancient city of Sulmona - birthplace of Roman Poet Ovid plus where confetti (sugared almonds) come from, this beautifully furnished apartment is ideal for families and small groups alike. I do quite a bit of travelling but am always at the end of a phone or available online. In fact, I shouldn't think that half of my clients even know where I am working from most of the time and these days that should not be an issue as long as the work gets done and done to a high standard.

Working remotely also means I'm a lot more flexible with my clients; it's really not a problem to work in the evenings or sometimes even weekends if there is a need. This doesn't result in a work-life boundary blur at all or even pressure to always be available online as long as everybody's expectations are managed.

There are so many benefits to remote working for both the client and the smart worker. The biggest advantage, of course, is higher productivity but another very important bonus to the employer is reduced expenses on office space, parking allowance costs, travel, office supplies, and more.

My additional advantage is that I can work both in the UK and also in the EU so if you need someone to travel for you or with you then get in touch! ☺️ (I am bilingual in English and German, and speak French and Italian well enough to get by)

(Note that I've taken the airport trolley up to my room where I'm keeping it overnight so that I can just get up and go in the morning thereby saving a little more time to enjoy the hotel breakfast buffet. Come on, who doesn't love a hotel breakfast buffet!!! 😁)

That’s precisely what I did to achieve my goal of reaching the C***o Grande the highest peak of Central Italy and that of the Apennines at 2912m. I attempted it in 2020 but didn’t quite make it due to a mix of vertigo and snow conditions, but this time I pushed past my own borders.

I believe that is the key to success in life; pushing your boundaries, coming out of your comfort zone, being open to experience and exploring new opportunities, it is then that you can realize your own true potential.

Apply this way of thinking to all aspects of life and you will be successful! You can do everything you dream of, but you need to push yourself, be confident and have faith in your potential.

Back to work for one or two weeks now? How are you feeling? I hope you still feel ‘recombobulated’ after a lovely Christmas and New Year’s break.

Ok so it’s not a ‘real’ word and you won’t find it in a dictionary but I love the idea of ‘recombobulating’. It’s something I’m planning on doing a lot more of this year as I try to keep some hours for myself and work on a ‘nearly’ full-time basis. To recombobulate means to re-orientate yourself, to put back into working order, to think clearly again. This is so important to do, not only for your mental health but also for your productivity at work, your personal projects and time spent with friends or at home with family.

Do you recombobulate? If so where do you do it and how often, daily, weekly?

Take a break!

It’s been proven that taking regular breaks at work and unplugging from a busy world increases productivity. I will definitely vouch for that!

Here are some benefits of taking just a few 5 minute breaks throughout the day:

Help you to re-evaluate goals
Help the mind refocus
Reduce stress
Improve performance and creativity
Keep you from sitting still all day, lessening aches and pains and eye strain if you use a computer

Do what you enjoy during your break time but why not perform some simple stretches; just some simple shoulder rolls every now and then or go for a brisk walk, all movement counts.

Friday Fun!

With over 20 years’ marketing experience at managerial level, both agency and client side, some companies’ names, logos, straplines, ads etc., really stand out to me for various reasons. Usually because they’re just so clever and creative, much like the teams I’ve been lucky to work with on many fantastic promotional materials and branding in the past. However, sometimes they do just end up making you wonder who had the final sign off.

No disrespect at all to VW, in fact I love a VW having had a Golf V5 in the past and currently driving the amazing T-Roc. For me VW is undoubtedly one of the best car brands in the world. I have no idea how VW’s marketing operates, whether they have a decentralized or distributed marketing team, etc., but what I do know is that their Italian Instagram account probably doesn’t target English speaking expats. Is it only people with both fluency in English as well as a dirty mind that will pick up on their Italian IG username? Just a small hyphen or underline between the Volkswagen and italia would have made a difference!
