We’re half-way through September already! This is an ideal time to reassess your priorities as these can shift over the summer. A project may have evolved, a deadline may have moved, or your own sense of what’s important may have changed.

Jot down your top 3 priorities for the rest of September and schedule time for the tasks that need your focus. This will help to make it easier to say no to distractions and yes to what counts.

And that’s a wrap!

I’m taking August off to travel to South-East Asia with my family and I can’t wait!

My book is finished just in time for this milestone and I’m looking forward to reflecting, resting and rejuvenating.

I’ll be back in September ready and raring to go!

As we reach the halfway point of 2026, it is the perfect time to reflect, review and reset and carry out a mid-year review of your business.

A mid-year review is an opportunity to:
* Review your year so far
* Celebrate your successes
* Learn from your challenges
* Realign your goals
* Navigate your next steps

As a small business owner, you might feel like you are so busy running your business, that you hardly ever, or never have the time to pause and really reflect ‘on’ your business.

This is how I can help:
I am offering a 1½-hour coaching session to review your year so far, set your next business goals and create an action plan to help you achieve them.
You’re guaranteed to leave feeling focused, energised and motivated!

I only have 5 slots available until the end of July before I go on annual leave, so PM me to book your mid-year review.
First come, first served!

Phones are one of, if not our biggest distractions.

Studies show that the average person checks their phone 96-144 times per day!

Features like infinite scrolling, notifications and algorithmic feeds are designed to capture your attention and keep you engaged. Your brain releases dopamine when you check your phone, creating a habit loop.

Here are 3 ways to help:

1. Put your phone in a drawer or even another room during deep, focused work. Out of sight, out of mind!

2. Turn off notifications: Those pings and dings keep your brain in a constant state of alert. Use do not disturb mode where possible.

3. Remove or re-prioritise distracting apps.

What can you try today?

Whether it is a noisy colleague, an email from a client or a child at home - people can be highly distracting!

There are times when we need to communicate and collaborate, but we also need time to be less visible and available to get things done.

Here are some top tips to help:

Using visual signals such as noise-cancelling headphones or placing a certain object on your desk signifies to others that you are in deep work mode.

Sometimes, working in a different area or moving floor maybe just what you need to get things done.

Some teams communicate their availability by using busy or do not disturb on their Teams or Slack status.

Booking software shows your available hours or include your working hours in your email signature to ringfence these times.

When working from home, it can be useful to hang a Do Not Disturb sign on your door to keep family members or housemates away. Just remember to remove it when you are finished!

Top tip Tuesday: Identify your 1 thing.

At the beginning of each day, ask yourself ‘What is the 1 thing that would make the biggest difference today’?

Write your 1 thing for the day on a Post-it, move it to the top of your to-do list or share it with colleagues in a daily huddle.

Until you have done this one thing, everything else is a distraction!

What is your 1 thing for today?
