The Old Tree Brewery campaign has made it over 45K !!

Now with less than a week to go… the more this community interest company is funded, the more resources we will be able to access to support our soil ecosystem restoration work with local composting, biochar and fermentation.

It’s arguably never been more important to build together. To restore soil organic matter (SOM) to the levels that it used to before industrial agriculture. This is a monumental task that half of the world’s food supply depends on and that needs major funding and as a public good and a matter of national and biological security in response to the climate emergency.

It begins though, with all of us getting lie hands in the soil again… in making compost locally and stopping the waste of our surplus nutrients which have always been and always will be - essential food for the rest of the web of life that we depend on.

Today’s our first official day of Apple Picking 2025 🍎🌿 and there’s still time to sign up to any of our volunteer slots!

Join us at Ragmans Lane (Gloucestershire) for 3 joyful, hands-on days: stay in the cosy bunkhouse, share 3 freshly cooked organic meals a day, warm up by the fire, make new friends, and learn loads about apples + orchard care. This year’s UK harvest is the biggest in 125 years—let’s save as much fruit as we can together.

On Wednesday evening, the 23rd of July 2025 .tom delivered the RiverLOOtion humanure composting trailer to the pilgrimage!

THIS is JUST the BEGINNING for this project. Many people, knowing how deep our motivations for soil regeneration and local composting solutions are have asked us if we have a compost loo to hire out for years now. The incredible river activism that and have been organising through and to is pilgrimage has played the role of CATALYST for us to finally create a decent solLOOtion for this !

WE NOW HAVE a MOBiLE COMPOST to HiRE 🌟

Every number 1 or number 2 is composted immediately in this award winning design we have been working with thanks to

Each container full that we will collect with our handy green trolley (you can see in the back in the video) will be used to grow roses🌹and edible hedgerows 🌸 on local lands - supporting a new regenerative farming and foraging culture with more growers and more nutrient dense food from and restored

All of the microbes and minerals and nutrient that our wee and poo are loaded with will be used to fulfil their purpose - to feed plant roots in living soil and help our planet 🌍 regulate its cycles and living system.

Hola community! We have been working away on a project that really inspires us. It’s been pretty full on getting it finished in the same time frame our team are also involved with and festivals like and but here are a few pics and vids of what we’ve been up to!!

We are collaborating with and to create a compost loo for the river pilgrimage event that is starting near today!!

As well as this physical conversion of the horse box trailer you see here - this is a living soil regeneration project that is also all about agro-forestry 🌳🌸🍎🐝

We share a vision and mission with
and to restore as much of our 🌎 degraded soils as possible. The return of minerals, microbes and organic matter than our 💩 is so packed with can be the best way to do this if the art and science of is properly harnessed.

By harvesting & composting our poo & wee into that we have wrongly been flushing into our countries rivers for over a century now - we can create a SoiLOOtion to the !

The RiverLOOtion compost loo featuring the award winning composting loo design by called the Alectura - will be joining the pilgrimage on Tuesday the 22nd of July.
tom will be on the river walk - from the morning of Thursday the 24th of July until the final day in Rochester where the loo will be making sure that all the organic matter generated by the pilgrims organising this epic voyage for the future of our rivers will be transformed into compost that is so packed with nutrients & beneficial microbes it will be used to enable us to start farming Roses!! 🌹

YES!! The replanting of edible hedgerows for biodiversity and nature recovery has long been a part of the vision and motivation behind the Old Tree social enterprises & we are over the moon to be creating this tool for empowering land regeneration with everyone in this post

Yes we are building a toilet, but it is also a tool for revolutionary change.

BUMS & ROSES is a waterless and odourless mobile compost loo that will make the highest quality humanure obtainable and will be ready for lights 📸 and river 💦 action in just 3 weeks time!! 😇💚

We have partnered with compost loo advocate who has the brilliant idea 💡of addressing the river crisis by using the excessively high nutrient sources of our 💩to feed hungry plants 🌹 and turn the pollution into a solLOOtion for the RiverLOOtion!!

We are converting this horse box of ours River pilgrimage and beyond! You will be able to hire our compost loo on wheels for your events. It will create sensational safe 🪱🤎 compost by the time it reaches the rose 🌸 hedgerows, gardens and agroforestry 🌳 farms that we are going to plant EVERYWHERE!

Old Tree is all about creating healthy ecosystems, from garden to gut and now - from guts to garden! 🦠🫶🌱🌳🍄

We are all walking soil and our soils need to eat well too so it’s time we stopped starving it and started to feed it some properly composted 💩.

We are proud to also be partnering with toilets who have sponsored our venture with state of the art award winning waterless toilet system called the Alectura. This is amazing!! Robins follow us all everywhere when we’re composting, but we didn’t know they had this sixth sense… helps make sense of how they can pull off icy extraordinary migrations around the 🌎…

We’ve got so many questions and topics to explore with .sheldrake on Tuesday! Could get onto electromagnetic sensing in the mycelium kingdom 🤓 but put priority is focusing on how Fungal intelligence would sort out the human ‘waste’ crisis! What would fungal governance look like? And other existential themes. We can’t wait, tell us you’re coming! This is a life only event! There will be no recording.
