About The Bakery

Working for one of Bristol’s oldest bakeries, this is a unique opportunity to be a head baker. The bakery that holds a prestigious heritage but also harbours ambitious growth plans.

Founded over 100 years ago, the bakery is about to undertake a full rebrand as part of a drive to relaunch the firm back into its rightful place amongst the premier bakeries in Bristol.

Primarily supplying shops, cafes, and restaurants with their baked products, the growth plans include launching a direct-to-consumer channel.

About the role

We have an exciting and rare job role as a head baker. The position is for a passionate and experienced baker in the Bristol area. If you are looking for your next role within the baking industry with a passion for baking, then this could be the head baker role for you.

The head baker job role is one with a challenge and requires someone with a willingness to learn and a 'can do' attitude. Experience is fundamental to the role and managing a team of bakers is desirable.

The role is primarily a daytime shift of 7-10 hours starting at 10am however can fluctuate. The role involves baking fresh bread and cakes with a creative flare to bring in new product lines throughout the year. In addition we encourage our bakers be creative and produce weekly specials for the retail side of the bakery.

Key responsibilities

Amongst other things the role of the Head Baker will be responsible for:

Product delivery
Product development
Bakery Staff Management – rotas, holidays, etc
Health and hygiene compliance
Stock management
Day to day problems as they occur

Location: Primarily Office Based in North Bristol with flexible and remote working hours

Pay: £20K - £26K DOE (Pro-rata if part time)

THE ROLE

A North Bristol based accountancy company is looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator / Payroll Manager / Payroll Officer. The role will involve running the payroll department for 45-60 hours a month which may increase over time either on a full or part time basis. This role could be remote; however, you will be required to attend the office in North Bristol at least one day a week, which will likely be a Monday.

The overall purpose of the role is to:

• Maintaining payroll records and ensuring processes and procedures follow current regulations.

• The role has to ensure strict deadlines are met, and customer and client enquiries are dealt with in both a polite and timely manner. The areas of accountability include:

• Proactively provide payroll advice and support to employers and employees and develop a culture of customer awareness and excellent customer service, supporting the provision of an effective payroll service to the company. This includes:

• Processing starters, leavers, P11ds and CIS returns

• Adding new clients and their staff onto our payroll software

• Ensuring the timely distribution of various pay documents relating to salary, absence and HMRC and employment law deadlines

• To ensure that pay data input work and support is completed, in advance of undertaking the payroll calculate process for both weekly and monthly payrolls and pensions, within strict deadlines.

• Uploading auto-enrolment pension files and corresponding with pension providers

• Promoting the company brand in a responsible and professional manner.

Required and desired skills:

• It is essential that you have end to end payroll experience, either in-house or within a payroll bureau.

• Experience of working with an integrated computerised HR/Payroll system (BrightPay)

• Able to answer pay related queries to staff or outside agencies

• Ability and the experience on setting up PAYE

• Ability to use Microsoft office e-mail, Excel, Word and other software systems used in Payroll

• Ability to understand and interpret statutory legislation in respect of PAYE, NI, Statutory payments and deductions

• Ability and experience in Bookkeeping and/or Accounts Prepared.

• GDPR Compliant to employee and employers confidentiality

• Must have good organisation skills and a good eye for detail and accuracy. Month ends will be a pressure point in the month so it is vital that the Payroll Administrator / Payroll Manager / Payroll Officer can remain calm under pressure, prioritise work and to meet strict deadlines.

The Sous Chef, will work closely with the Head Chef to manage aspects of the kitchen.

The Sous Chef will also be required to manage food provisions.

• Manage all aspects of the kitchen including operational, quality and administrative functions
