✨ What a fantastic morning at Origin Workspace, hosting the latest Electra Breakfast Event.

We welcomed an inspiring group of founders, business leaders and aspiring investors for a powerful discussion led by Briony Phillips and Alison Cooper on the role of women in angel investing.

Did you know that only 14% of angel investors in the UK are women? Yet diverse investor groups are more likely to invest in female-founded businesses, helping to create greater opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs.

The session explored how angel investing works, how to get started, and the many ways investors can support innovative businesses through funding, mentorship, expertise and connections.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such an engaging conversation. Together, we're helping to build a stronger, more inclusive business community.

We are absolutely delighted to share some incredible news: our founder, Heather Frankham DL, has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List in recognition of her services to education and skills. 👑

Heather is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and civic leader whose work over the past decade has beautifully woven together business, community and purpose. In 2019, she founded our workspace to create a thriving collaborative home for entrepreneurs here in Bristol, with profits channelled directly into the Origin Foundation, providing grant funding to charities that help young people build confidence, skills and opportunities across our city.

Heather also chairs the board of the 224 Youth Zone in Hartcliffe, a transformational £12m, state-of-the-art youth centre being brought to Bristol, giving young people an incredible space to grow, connect and thrive.

This honour is so richly deserved. Heather's dedication to building a better Bristol. One young person, one business, one community at a time.

Finance was the focus this month, and as ever, the real magic happened in the side conversations. Good food, genuine connections, and a few ideas that might just turn into something.

We also had Andy from Access Sport join us, shining a light on the inspiring work of one of our charity partners.

Running has become a big part of life at Origin over the past 7 years. 🏃

From our weekly Running Club to tackling Parkruns together and our annual Santa Run, we've seen firsthand how running brings people together. It sparks conversations, builds friendships, and creates a sense of community that extends beyond our coworking space.

While you definitely don't need to be a keen runner to enjoy a membership at Origin, there's always a place for you if you'd like to give it a try.

So today we're celebrating the positive impact running can have on our minds, bodies, productivity, and community. 🧡
