Enquiries and bookings have been coming in thick and fast ready for event season this year. On that note, let’s talk about standby Generators. This has become increasingly popular and this month alone, we have had a huge amount of enquiries for standbys. So here’s a bit of info as to why they can be incredibly important.
There will be times where it is crucial to have a standby Generator alongside your running Generator. This could be where loss of power is deemed as critical such as festivals, party's, weddings, public events and much more. Where loss of power is deemed critical, we recommend a standby. This is entirely the hirers choice and is not mandatory as part of your hire.
Depending on the level of urgency for continuous power, there are two options available. A ‘standard’ standby Generator is where you have a Generator on standby which in the event of loss of power or fault with the running Generator, you have a standby Generator waiting. You will manually disconnect from the first Generator and connect your cabling / distribution to the Standby Generator and continue.
A Standby Generator with an AMF Panel is where the running Generator is connected by a Cable to an AMF Panel which in turn is connected by another Cable to the Standby Generator. This means that in the event of a power failure or fault with the running Generator, the AMF Panel will automatically start the standby Generator without the need of manual change over.
