Holiday evidence has officially been submitted 📸☀️

There seems to have been an unofficial competition amongst the team this summer for:

🏖️ Best beach
🌅 Best sunset
🍷 Best waterside drink
⛵ Best marina view
🦶 And apparently, the sandiest feet

With schools heading back and September now well underway, we thought we’d share a few snapshots from the team’s summer travels before normal service completely resumes!

We hope everyone managed to find some time over the summer to relax, recharge and make a few memories along the way.

Now it’s back to school and back to work… although we wouldn’t say no to a little more sunshine. ☀️

At least until somebody starts discussing October half term. 😉

September has that familiar back to school feeling, routines return, diaries fill up and it feels like a natural time to get organised again.

So why not set yourself a little financial homework?

A new season is a good opportunity to make sure your financial plans still reflect where you want to go.

A little homework now could help put you in a stronger position for the months ahead.

When we think about giving children and young people a good start in life, helping them feel confident with money can be an important part of that.

From their first pocket money to saving for bigger milestones, small conversations at home can help build habits that last.

That might mean encouraging younger children to save a little of their pocket money, putting money aside for their future, or helping young adults understand options. And perhaps one of the most valuable lessons of all? Starting early can make a real difference.

Whether it’s saving for a first car, university, a first home or simply building financial confidence, giving the next generation a better understanding of money can help them feel more prepared for whatever comes next.

This International Youth Day, why not start a conversation about money with the young people in your family?

Huge congratulations to our very own Hannah Lake DipPFS! 🏅🏅🏅

Hannah received confirmation on Friday that she had passed her RO6 exam, meaning she is now officially a fully qualified Financial Adviser. 👏

Hannah is a brilliant example of how hard work, commitment and the right attitude really do pay off.

With 20 years’ of experience at Barclays Bank, alongside her naturally helpful, enthusiastic and positive approach, we always knew she had the core values and credentials to succeed.

What has really impressed us, though, is the incredible dedication she has shown to learning and developing from day one. And she’s not stopping there… Hannah has already decided she quite fancies Chartered status too! 👀

But for now, the studying can take a back seat and it’s time to get on with the fun stuff… 🤓🤓🤓

Congratulations Hannah — thoroughly deserved! 🎉

They say you don't get to choose your coworkers, but if we did, we'd pick this lot 💛

Happy International Day of Friendship! Today we’re celebrating our amazing team and the wider circle of friends who make our days off just as brilliant as our days in the office. As you can see from these photos, when work friends and outside friends get together, the laughs don't stop!

Here’s to saving each other’s sanity on busy days, making memories on the weekends, and friendships that blur the line between colleagues and chosen family. ✨

📉 Could weaker jobs data, falling oil prices and huge AI spending change the outlook for investors?

The latest WeekWatch looks beyond the headlines to explore what has been moving markets — and what it could mean for interest rates, inflation and investments.

This week’s update covers:

🔹 Why disappointing US jobs figures could influence future interest-rate decisions
🔹 Whether falling oil prices may help ease inflation
🔹 Growing concerns over the billions being spent on artificial intelligence
🔹 Important proposed changes for first-time buyer savers
🔹 Why some older pension plans may be delivering poor value

It also examines the investment gap between men and women — and whether younger generations are beginning to close it.

📈 WeekWatch Update
Markets climbed this week as global tensions eased, oil prices fell, and inflation remained in focus.

This week’s update also looks at proposed mortgage rule changes, potential improvements for cohabiting couples, and why staying the course matters when investing.

⚽ In our video, To Dive or Not to Dive, we explore how goalkeepers facing penalties may sometimes be better off staying still rather than diving too quickly. Investing can be similar. In a world full of headlines, reacting to short-term noise can be tempting, but staying focused on a long-term plan is often the better approach.

The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than invested. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
