***We have the best news!!***
This news is going to make your year, and like us you may literally burst into tears (no jokes, Emily got choked up on the phone to the DfE knowing so many families will be helped!)
The DfE Covid Response Team has just confirmed that baby and toddler groups were very much intended to be within the definition of support groups in the latest announcements. Not just e.g. breastfeeding / PND groups, but other baby and toddler groups too!
They have asked us to let providers know so no more unnecessarily shut before the official guidelines come out.
They have been working on the new guidelines since July with PHE, but given Saturdays news and the fact that many providers were on the brink of closing, they have asked us to share this news now.
So this wording is going to be included in the revised guidelines (due Friday and if you want automatic update please sign up for updatesvia our blog below): "support groups such as breastfeeding, PND, and BABY AND TODDLER GROUPS AND CLASSES"
Finally the correct terminology! So what the government wants and what can happen is clear.
So!
Baby & toddler classes CAN continue - albeit they are now subject to the max 15 limit for support groups (and this includes children).
That does mean some classes will still be forced to close as their numbers won't be viable (or their venues will be shut) - however, the good news is that SOME classes will still be on!
Can I hear a woop woop!
More info on our blog (https://www.happity.co.uk/blog/article/government-guidelines-for-baby-toddler-groups/) - including the evidence you need for your venue - to share with them ASAP! They may want to wait for the guidelines, but it may be enough!
