Carol Vorderman is a media personality and mathematician best known for her role as the co-host of the popular television game show Countdown. Born on December 24, 1960, in Bedford, Vorderman has made Bristol her home.

She rose to fame in 1982 when she became the show's resident "numbers expert," a position she held for 26 years. Her quick mental arithmetic and engaging on-screen presence made her a household name in the UK.

Beyond Countdown, Vorderman has had a diverse career, including work as a television presenter, author, and newspaper columnist. She has also been an advocate for education, particularly in promoting mathematics, and has authored several educational books. Vorderman's contributions to broadcasting and education have earned her numerous accolades, including an MBE in 2000.

Cary Grant was born in Horfield, Bristol in 1904. He became attracted to theatre at a young age when he visited the Bristol Hippodrome. At 16, he went as a stage performer with the Pender Troupe for a tour of the US. After a series of successful performances in New York City, he decided to stay there. He established a name for himself in vaudeville in the 1920s and toured the United States before moving to Hollywood in the early 1930s. During the 1940s and 1950s, Grant had a close working relationship with director Alfred Hitchcock, who cast him in four films: Suspicion (1941), Notorious (1946), To Catch a Thief (1955), and North by Northwest (1959).
