I finished reading Yesteryear over half term which is a book centred around a trad wife Instagram influencer. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it, but it’s fair to say the polished online persona and the reality behind closed doors were very different things.

It really made me think about Instagram in general… and my own little corner of it too.

Because whilst you only see snippets of my life on here, I genuinely hope they’re real snippets. The glamorous bits and the ridiculous ones.

You’ve seen me plucking my chin hairs in the car mirror. Digging mouldy boots out from the back of the wardrobe. My ongoing Vinted addiction. The holey dog walking clothes that should probably have been retired years ago. Losing my car in a multi storey car park in Bath. Turning up to give a talk 24 hours early….and today, leaving my handbag at the venue.

Of course social media is curated to some extent because I don’t upload every argument, stress or mundane moment, but I hope if someone followed me online and then met me in person, the two versions would feel reassuringly similar.

I’m not pretending to have it all together. It’s just me…usually slightly creased as I don’t like ironing…..

You can tell me otherwise but I think there’s something comforting about people showing up as themselves these days.

Has anyone else read it? I’d love to know what you thought.

These brooches had been sitting unloved in a bag in my drawer for far too long, so instead of leaving them there, I decided to see what would happen if I pinned them onto a simple gold necklace.

There wasn’t a grand plan involved, I just played around with different combinations until I found one I liked. I went for a bit of symmetry but honestly, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. The brooches were really easy to pin on and within a few minutes I had a statement necklace that’s completely unique to me.

It’s a good reminder that sometimes we don’t need to buy something new. A little creativity and a fresh look at what we already own can uncover pieces we’d forgotten about and turn them into something we’ll actually wear.

What treasures do you have tucked away in a drawer that could be given a second life and would you give this a go with your brooch collection?

🌍 Today is World Environment Day 🌍

What a brilliant way to spend the morning….recording a podcast with the pretty damn awesome Jen Gale from Sustainable(ish).

Jen is one of the most inspiring people I know when it comes to showing that sustainability doesn’t have to mean doing everything perfectly. Her message has always been about taking small, manageable steps that fit into real life and that’s something I wholeheartedly believe in too.

With my work I see the impact of those small actions every day. Choosing pre-loved, repairing something rather than replacing it, wearing and loving what you already own or passing on clothes to someone who will treasure them.

None of these things feel dramatic on their own but together they create meaningful change.

It was such a joy to sit down with Jen and talk about sustainability, style and the power of making conscious choices without striving for perfection.

I can’t wait to share the episode with you when it’s ready! And if you don’t already follow Jen, please do!

I don’t often promote brands but when they’re British, size-inclusive, colourful, comfy and have pockets… I’m in 🙌

I’m slightly obsessed with my two Popsy jumpsuits. I bought my first one a couple of years ago from my local charity shop - it was brand new with tags for £8! Then I found a different colourway on Vinted later on and couldn’t resist.

Made from soft jersey fabric, they’re honestly like wearing pyjamas (but a socially acceptable version!😆).

Popsy is a husband and wife run, British brand making sizes 6–24, with alteration options at checkout (such as different sleeve and hem lengths). Most importantly, they have pockets on most designs. They are designed and made in the Midlands and are proof that comfort and style really can go hand in hand.

Have you heard of them?

One of the things I love most about my job is that it doesn’t end when the session ends.

Yesterday’s client shared this lovely review and whilst we found some fantastic pre-loved pieces that felt completely her, the real magic often happens afterwards. 💚

Every client receives three months of follow-up support, so as they start wearing their new clothes and building outfits, they have someone in their corner. If they need help styling a piece or have found a potential item on Vinted or spotted something in a charity shop and wonder if it’s worth buying….they can simply send it over.

Style isn’t about a single shopping trip, it’s about building confidence, learning what works for you and having support while you put it all into practice.

That’s exactly what we’re doing together now as she pieces her ‘new’ wardrobe together ✨

This morning I spent two hours personal shopping with a busy working mum whose wardrobe simply wasn’t working for her anymore. Like so many women, her life and body had changed but her clothes hadn’t kept pace. Shopping felt overwhelming and she wasn’t sure where to begin.

Together we focused on finding versatile pieces for both work and home, creating a wardrobe that feels effortless rather than stressful. In just two hours, we found some absolute crackers – from beautiful designer bargains to stunning everyday basics that can be mixed and matched in countless ways. She left with two bags full of clothes and more importantly, a clear sense of what works for her and why.

As an added bonus, by choosing pre-loved pieces, today’s shop saved an estimated 213kgs of CO₂ emissions and 61,200 litres of water compared to buying new – proving that style, confidence and sustainability can go hand in hand!

This dress has been sitting in my wardrobe for a while. I loved the colour and shape but it always felt a little bit plain.

So I decided to see what I could add just a little touch of detail.

A rummage in the craft section of my local charity shop meant I found a beautiful length of crochet (£2.99) and two reels of cotton (£1). My local hardware shop sold me the Dylon dye (£5) and after dyeing the crochet to a similar shade as the dress, I carefully stitched it onto the sleeves and hem by hand.

I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out. The crochet edging adds just enough detail to make the dress feel special, while still keeping the simplicity that I loved in the first place.

Even better, I still have some crochet left over, so my next project is adding straps to another dress that’s currently unworn because its strapless and me and strapless bras are a no go. If I added straps, I could wear it!

A little creativity, a few charity shop finds, and another item saved from being forgotten.

Proof that sometimes the most satisfying wardrobe updates cost less than a takeaway and come with a much better story!

Today was the great summer shoe changeover ☀️👡

I packed up all my boots… well, nearly all of them… and brought out the lightweight shoes and sandals instead. Will I live to regret it? Possibly 😅 In a week’s time we could easily be back to cold, windy, rainy weather here in the UK. But for now, I’m choosing optimism and leaning fully into the sunshine.

Here’s to lighter layers, bare ankles and the hope of a long hot summer ahead ✨

Can we talk about wardrobe organisation?

Because if your wardrobe (and drawers… and the chair 👀) don’t have a system, getting dressed can feel so much harder than it needs to be.

One of the simplest methods you can adopt is to keep like with like.

All your skirts together.
All your jeans together.
All your knitwear in the same place.
All your Ts together

It sounds obvious but so often I see wardrobes where one skirt is hanging up, another is folded in a drawer, one’s draped over a chair and another has somehow made its way to a pile at the bottom of the wardrobe!

And then we wonder why getting dressed feels overwhelming.

If you decide you want to wear a skirt but your skirts are in four different places… that’s four times the effort before you’ve even started thinking about the outfit.

Organisation doesn’t have to be perfect and it t certainly doesn’t have to look like a Pinterest wardrobe.

But it does need to work for you.

If it all feels a bit hard, just start small. Decide on one type of clothing e.g. long sleeves tops, group those similar items together and notice what shifts.

Because when everything has a home, you save time, reduce decision fatigue and get a clear snapshot of what you actually own (and what you might be missing).

And that’s when getting dressed starts to feel easier and maybe even a little bit fun again!

Pic of my jacket collection for reference 🤣🙈

You all know I love a good charity shop hunt, so when a lovely friend suggested a trip over to Wales to try somewhere new, I was very intrigued… and to be perfectly honest, it far exceeded my expectations!

We found 12 charity shops all within really close proximity, which made for a very happy day of rummaging. The quality was generally pretty high too. Of course, some shops were stronger than others but overall it was absolutely worth the drive.

So where was this magical place? Drumroll please… it was Abergavenny!

Has anyone else been? I’d love to know what you thought if you have. And while we’re at it, what other areas do you rate for brilliant charity shops? x
