One common HR mistake we see?

Policies that don’t match what actually happens in practice.

With the changes that recently came in this April and with more on the horizon, now is a great time to sense-check:
🐝Do your contracts and policies reflect reality?
🐝Are managers following the correct process?
🐝Do managers understand the process they should be following and is this done consistently across the business?

Your documents should protect you, not trip you up.

When did you last check in with your managers and train them on your policies?

Family friendly leave changes are coming from 6 April 2026.

In this video, Gemma explains the changes to paternity leave, shared parental leave and ordinary unpaid parental leave.

From April, these types of leave will become day one rights, meaning employees will be able to access them from the start of their employment.

What’s important to know:
✔️ The amount of leave and notice requirements are not changing
✔️ The key change is when employees become eligible

For employers, this is mostly about awareness and making sure your documents reflect the change.

It’s a good time to:
• review your family leave policies
• check your employment contracts
• and give managers a quick update

As always, we’re here to help businesses navigate these changes with confidence.

If you’d like support reviewing your policies ahead of April, please comment below or contact us.

Statutory Sick Pay changes are coming on 6 April 2026

Rob from our team has recorded a short video to break down the upcoming SSP changes and what they could mean for your business.

Watch his video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/Cp6bh-em5c8?feature=share

From April:
✔️ Statutory Sick Pay will be paid from day one
✔️ The earnings threshold is being removed
✔️ SSP will be paid at the lower of 80% of average weekly pay or the weekly flat rate

While the changes are relatively straightforward, it’s worth taking a moment to check that:
🐝 your payroll is set up correctly
🐝 your contracts and sickness policies reflect the new rules
🐝 and your managers are aware of the changes

A little preparation now will make things much smoother when April arrives.

If you'd like help reviewing your policies or preparing your business for these changes, our team is always happy to help.

Did you know that Family leave is changing from April 2026, we've set out what employers need to know...

From 6 April 2026, several types of family leave will become day-one rights, meaning employees won’t need any qualifying service to access them.

This applies to:
🐝 Paternity leave
🐝 Shared parental leave
🐝 Ordinary unpaid parental leave

What’s not changing?
➡️ Notice requirements
➡️ How much leave can be taken
➡️ The general eligibility rules

It’s all about when employees can qualify, not the structure of the leave itself.

If your policies or contracts mention length of service, now’s the time to review them.
