08/01/2019
Well my first post of 2019 has to be about our commute to work or just driving. Monday, I was heading north on the M6 when I found myself at my first RTI (Road Traffic Incident) of the year. Multiple vehicle involvement at junction 21a. Later that day I heard on the radio that the M6 was closed both ways due to a serious RTI at Kendal – I later discovered “serious” had become “fatal”. Heading south today, I heard once again a fatal incident had occurred on the M58. This had involved a lady and a 14 year old child. In such a short period of time a number of families have been greeted in 2019 with utter tragedy and devastation.
Safety is not just a work thing, its not just legislation or paperwork – it’s the avoidance of devastation to us and our loved ones. It never starts or finishes, it should always be active or ongoing like a heart beat.
It is a new year, new opportunities and new challenges and I wish you all the best. My thoughts are with those involved and the family and friends affected. Please stay safe on the roads and remember – “its better to be late in this life than early into the next”. Stay safe on the roads!
