Our big girl Eda has been busy making artist charcoal with sam , she peels the willow by hand, snips it to length and pops it in the kiln with the main burn to cook, and shes even designed her own packaging so she can sell some for extra pocket money!

We’ve made her an Instagram page to share all the brilliant works of art created with her artist charcoal and to sell her wares! Soon to be available locally and online.

Repost from using - All packaged up from the first batches! Eda used mummy’s (.art) iPad and one of our charcoal bags from to design her logo for the packaging and helped pick out the mix of pieces to make up a pack.

Most of this batch have found new homes which was really exciting! Good news is the the next batch was much bigger and is ready to pack!

First burn of the season all bagged up ready for your bbqs! It’s a messy old job, always ends up looking like a Victorian chimney sweep! What a first burn, a really great yield and looking and smelling amazing! We’ve got plenty of stock for our roadside shop in Kilkhampton and suppliers dotted around the area, drop us a line if you need more than a couple of bags and we can make sure we bring extra back to the house!

Seeing as summer seems to have come early we’ve stocked up the roadside shop outside our house in Kilkhampton. Pop by to get your charcoal if you’re thinking of breaking out the bbq this weekend!

Directions: Our house is: Colcott, on the main A39 through Kilk, just along from the layby for lamb park/the school. You’ll see our charcoal hut on the same side as the layby next to our duck coop!

A few posts back I introduced our lovely space so I thought I’d jump on an introduce the humans of the woods too! Sam is an amazing PT, cross fit style fitness instructor running sessions out of his gym inside the woodland. He is also a charcoal maker, and our chief wood person, basically he does all the heavy lifting, planning and brilliant things inside the woods. I (Beth, ) am the dreamer/planner/making things pretty person of the team, I work mainly in my new studio at our home in Kilk as a printmaking designer and work with Sam to make the big plans, run the social media and wedding excitement! And then of course there is Eda, our incredible 4 1/2 year old, who is fearless, strong and so funny. She loves the woods as much as we do and is the queen of planting trees and keeping our spirits high! Will be lovely to meet some more of you in person one day soon, if we can remember how to socialise! 📸

Wanted to pop on to say a warm hello to lots of new faces on here! And a quick introduction to ! We are a private 28 acre working woodland just outside of Bude! We are currently in the midst of some very exciting foresty and timber work with , busy making charcoal and expanding the site ready to welcome guests for scheduled events, weddings, workshops and lots more in the coming years! We are not open to walks because of the safety issues posed by active felling and charcoal making, but please keep your eyes peeled for announcements for open days and public events in the nearish future! Our sign might be showing a few signs of the long winter (don’t worry, it’s getting a spring freshen up soon!), but the fresh new bags of charcoal aren’t! First batch of charcoal of this season are straight out the kiln and are now in our roadside shop in Kilkhampton (just down the road from the school by the junction to Tamar Lakes). And there shuts the lid on the first burn of the season! Thanks so much to for not only being a great help to us over the past few months as our very knowledgeable and friendly volunteer but also taking some awesome pics and videos too! Now just the last stage before the kiln is tucked up to cool down for 48hrs and then we can see how it all went!
