Gill Rushworth Virtual Assistant

Gill Rushworth Virtual Assistant For years, I’ve thought about becoming a Virtual Assistant. Then, in December 2024, redundancy - completely out of the blue - gave me the push I needed.

I had the skills but the idea of leaving a full-time job to step into the unknown always felt daunting. While I could have jumped straight into another role, I wanted something more fulfilling, something for 𝘮𝘦. After 17 years of doing what I do best for others, I decided it was time to do it on my own terms. And here I am - self-employed, excited, and ready to help businesses thrive! If you need

an extra pair of hands, let’s chat! And if you see my name popping up more, it’s because I’m embracing this new chapter and sharing the journey. Here’s to new beginnings! 🥂

Almost a year ago, I posted on Facebook about having a wobble when it comes to networking. I still find it daunting and don't do as much as I should. Here are some tips about the benefits and getting the most out of face-to-face networking.

Showing up at each meeting, listening with curiosity, offering insights, being willing to help, and being open to what others can teach you, can all lead to a positive experience of networking.

Keeping in touch outside regular meetings by having one-to-ones and follow-ups, while offering support where you can, builds genuine relationships over time.

Together, this builds trust, visibility, and a community of people who you think of first when opportunities arise, whether that means new clients, collaboration, referrals or advice.

Everyone starts somewhere, and although it’s daunting at the time, consistency really does pay off, helping you grow in confidence, expand your network of people, and, more importantly, develop your business.

And there's usually a decent coffee on offer!

Supporting independents instead of the big brands this weekend in London. Came across this lovely coffee shop Fair Shot Café in Covent Garden. Their ethos as a not for profit organisation investing in young adults with learning disabilities is fantastic, and would be interested to know of other similar coffee shops in Manchester or Leeds.

Pop in and support if you're in the area!

Sometimes you just need to press the reset button and take some time for yourself. So I'm going to soak up some sunshine 🌞 and I may just imbibe some of the local wet stuff 🥂....maybe enjoy the beach too!

I’d love to hear from others. Do you fully disconnect when you’re on holiday?

As a Virtual Personal Assistant, I’m often the unseen hand that keeps things moving when business owners go off the grid (or at least try to 😉).

Being able to switch the auto-reply Out of Office on… and confidently step away, knowing that I'm here to:

👉 Respond to urgent emails with professionalism and care
👉 Flag important updates without overwhelming their inbox
👉 Maintain consistent communication so clients never feel neglected

Because true freedom - the kind where you can switch off without stress - comes from knowing someone has your back.

If you’re a business owner who wants to step away, but fear what might fall through the cracks….. let’s talk.

📩 Whether it’s holiday cover, ongoing admin support, or smarter delegation, I help you focus on your priorities without compromise.

👀 Curious about what working with a VPA looks like? I’d love to connect.

As Monday afternoon comes to a close, how do you feel? Were you able to accomplish everything you set out to do, or did you find yourself trapped in your inbox, replying to emails, setting up meetings, and planning the week ahead?

Imagine how much more productive you could be with the help of a personal assistant to free up your time, by skillfully managing your emails, scheduling appointments, and organising travel plans.

I can help ease some of these burdens without the additional cost of hiring, and you only pay for the time you need. Hourly rates for one-off tasks or ad-hoc work are available, as well as monthly retainers if you need flexibility.

Ready to gain some time back? Let's discuss - send me a message today.

My mate helps me get through the day - constantly reminding me that she needs attention, wants to be fed and wants to go out and play. She makes me get up and and move away from my laptop, which surely isn't a bad thing, is it!

Locked in to staring at a screen for hours on end, making sure the admin is done before starting to think how you're going to grow your business can be tedious and your time could be better spent, making your business more successful!

Think about it! Let's chat about how i can help you free up some time....DM today.

How do you take time off from your business?

Running a business is rewarding, but let’s be honest, it’s hard to step away. Emails pile up, admin tasks don’t stop, and before you know it, your "holiday" feels more like working remotely.

So, how do you provide cover when you take time off? This is where a Virtual Assistant can be a game-changer.

Imagine returning from a break to find:

✅Emails sorted and prioritised
✅Appointments scheduled and diary managed
✅Customer enquiries handled professionally
✅Your business running smoothly - without the post-holiday chaos

Taking time off shouldn’t mean coming back to a mountain of admin. A VA can keep things moving while you recharge, so you can truly switch off and enjoy your time away.
How do you currently manage time off? Have you considered outsourcing your admin to a VA? Let’s discuss in the comments! 👇

Monday’s come around too quickly, don’t you think?

☕ Coffee in one hand, to-do list in the other
📧Inbox overflowing
📅Meetings, admin, follow-ups piling up
😅And it's not even 10am...Sound familiar?

Running a small business means wearing all the hats but you don’t have to do it alone.

As a Virtual Assistant, I can help you:

✅Tame your inbox and calendar
✅Streamline your admin tasks
✅Organise your week so you can focus on growth
✅Get ahead instead of playing catch-up. Let’s make Mondays feel more manageable and your whole week more productive.

📩 DM me to chat about how I can support you behind the scenes while you stay focused on the big picture!

Navigating Networking Nerves – Your Tips are Welcome!

Networking makes me nervous — but I’m doing it anyway.
When I walk into a room, I still feel that little wave of uncertainty.
What do I say? Will I come across well? Am I doing this “right”?

But I keep showing up, and with each event, it feels a bit more natural.

💬 I remind myself it’s not about delivering the perfect pitch.
🤝 It’s about starting real conversations and building connections.
💡 I focus on listening, being present, and showing up as myself.

It’s a work in progress and I know I’m not alone in that.

If networking ever felt (or still feels) uncomfortable for you, what’s helped you the most?

I’d love to hear your tips, mindset shifts, or small things that made it feel easier.
Let’s share and support — we’ve all been the “new one” in the room at some point.
