🎃 The Only Scare This Halloween Should Be the Decorations. 👻

Halloween is a good reminder that when an alarm sounds, everyone in your workplace should know exactly where to go.

Don’t Let Your Fire Escape Plan Become a Horror Story.

• Know your fire exits.
• Keep escape routes clear.
• Check exit doors are accessible.
• Ensure staff know the evacuation procedure.
• Keep safety signage visible.

Giving Back to the Community! 🌍

Last Thursday, members of the Midland Fire team took part in the Nottingham City Litter Picking Volunteering Day!

It was a great opportunity to get out of the office, work together and do our bit to help keep the local community clean and tidy.

A big well done to everyone who got involved and helped make a difference! 👏

keeping our engineers sharp!

We've recently rolled out our new Conventional Training Course, delivered to all engineers across the business.

This wasn’t just for our apprentices; our senior engineers also received the same training as part of their continued development.

The aim of this course is to ensure that every engineer has a strong understanding of the fundamental principles and operation of conventional circuits and relays. These core skills are essential to understanding how individual components interact and how they integrate to form more complex systems.

🚨4 modules:
Module 1 – What is a Conventional Fire Alarm System
Module 2 – Other Conventional Fire Alarm Systems (2 Wire)
Module 3 – Conventional Inputs and Relays
Module 4 – Fault finding

It includes a practical fault-finding exercise and wiring exercise designed to build their knowledge on linking systems together with use of relays.

🚗 Keeping Our Engineers Safe on the Road!

Following each of our toolbox talks, we carry out routine van checks to help ensure our engineers and their vehicles are safe and ready for the road.

These checks help us identify any potential vehicle defects or safety concerns early, ensuring our fleet remains roadworthy and fit for use.

Safety is a priority both on-site and on the road. It's all part of maintaining high standards and promoting safe working practices across our team.

We're proud to celebrate four members of the Midland Fire team who are taking the next step in their careers by undertaking apprenticeships at Derby College and Burton and South Derbyshire College! 👏

Alanis first joined us as a T Level student and, thanks to her hard work and dedication, was offered the opportunity to continue her development with us as an apprentice.

Our other three apprentices, Alfie, Caleb and Harvey, joined Midland Fire in 2025 as labourers and quickly became valued members of the team.

We're passionate about investing in our people, supporting their development and helping them build long-term careers in the industry.

It's fantastic to see how far they've come already, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow!

Well done to all four! 💙👏

👷 Keeping our team trained and up to date!

Some of the team have been getting hands-on with Non-Licensed Asbestos Works Training, delivered by Mark from IASS. A big thank you to Mark for sharing his knowledge and expertise!

This training is particularly valuable for our work installing fire detection systems in social housing properties, allowing our engineers to safely carry out certain non-licensed asbestos tasks without always needing to bring in a licensed asbestos contractor.

A great opportunity to develop our team's skills, improve efficiency and, most importantly, continue putting safety first.

Our Electrical Division recently helped deliver the electrical infrastructure for Aston University's new AIME laboratory, creating a safe, compliant and future-ready environment for cutting-edge membrane research.

Working alongside palings and interclass our team installed a range of specialist systems including power distribution, lighting, fire detection, gas detection, access control, data and BMS controls — all while the university building remained fully operational.

It was a project that needed plenty of planning and coordination, but the team worked closely with everyone involved to keep things moving smoothly and minimise disruption.

We’re really pleased to have played a part in creating a facility that will support AIME’s world-class research for years to come.
