A number of homes had to be evacuated in Coventry following the discovery of an unexploded bomb, understood to be a 50kg of German WW2 vintage, on a construction site on Tuesday 2nd June 2026. A 100 metre cordon is still in place and people will not be able to return to their homes until it has been made safe and the disposal operation is complete. The bomb is thought to be one of a number dropped on an industrial area of Coventry during the Blitz in 1941. This incident has been reported on various national and local news outlets and other media.

Even today dangerous unexploded bombs are being discovered regularly and apart from obvious safety hazards, they can cause major disruption to the public and to ongoing works, highlighting the importance of engaging expert UXO risk mitigation consultants in advance of ground work. During a 6 Alpha watching brief on a client site, a nose cone from a 500 kg bomb was discovered. It was immediately assessed by our on-site explosive ordnance disposal engineer for hazards and risks. Work safely resumed on site within an hour of its discovery and the item was subsequently disposed of.

6 Alpha Going Above and Beyond in Support of Ukrainian Agency Personnel Training - Donation of Vallon Detectors for Training at MAT Kosovo.

On Monday, the 4th May 2026, 6 Alpha Associates kindly donated 2 x Vallon VMXC1-3 Detectors to MAT Kosovo (https://www.pcm-erw.com), for use in the delivery of training to Ukrainian agency personnel. The handover was between 6 Alpha Associates’ Max McDonald and MAT Kosovo's Director Arben Qorraj.

Ben Remfrey, PCM and MAT Kosovo's Managing Director stated - Our training of Ukrainian Agency personnel goes way back, even before the full scale invasion of Ukraine by the RF in Feb 2022. Equipment for training is always incredibly important, as is having the breadth of equipment from different manufacturers. This donation by 6 Alpha Associates continues a cooperation between our two companies, built on mutual respect and doing the right thing, I can only express my thanks to the 6 Alpha Team for this incredibly generous donation and assure them this equipment will further enhance this training going forward.

6 Alpha’s Director of Land Operations, Ben Wilkinson said “Building on the excellent relationship that we have developed with MAT Kosovo, we are delighted to donate this equipment. We know that it will be put to good use in training EOD operators”.
