The Romans Unearthed project team will be attending Dragon fest 2026 at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village this weekend. They will be explaining the replica Roman kiln that the team and volunteers have made there.

Over the last two weeks, work has been underway opening trenches, setting up and starting work on this season’s excavation at Alpheton Roman villa complex, with UCL Institute of Archaeology. We are joining them as part of the Romans Unearthed project, as part of the Romans Unearthed project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund

We’re gearing up to start archaeological excavations at Alpheton this summer to investigate the Roman villa complex, in partnership with UCL Institute of Archaeology and involving local volunteers and schools as part of the Romans Unearthed project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Although the excavation is not open for general public access, site tours will be held in July to see the work in progress and learn more about the discoveries being made. You can book onto a site tour via the link above (advanced booking essential).

Edmund and the Great Heathen Army Exhibition will be running from Saturday 6th June to Sunday 4th October 2026 at Moyse's Hall Museum, Bury St Edmunds.

The Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service will be loaning objects from its collection for display in the exhibition.
