I've just returned from the beautiful North Macedonia and what an amazing destination it is! 🇲🇰✨
I stayed in the stunning lakeside town of Ohrid, just 20 minutes from the airport, making transfers quick and easy. Home to one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, Ohrid is packed with history, culture and charm. Known as the "City of 365 Churches", it also boasts a fascinating ancient amphitheatre dating back to 200BC, all within walking distance of the picturesque lake and its cobbled streets lined with local crafts, cafés, bars and restaurants.
Two highlights of my trip were exploring Lake Ohrid by boat and enjoying an unforgettable sunset cruise. I also visited the fascinating Bay of Bones, a reconstructed stilt village showing what life was like here around 700BC, before heading to the impressive Monastery of St Naum, founded in 905AD. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and even wild peacocks, it's one of the region's must-see attractions.
North Macedonia is also becoming known for its excellent wine production, with wine and cheese tastings available throughout the area. Whether you're looking for history, culture, stunning scenery, boat trips, hiking opportunities or simply relaxing by a pool with spectacular views, there's something for everyone.
As an up-and-coming destination, North Macedonia offers fantastic value for money, making now the perfect time to visit before everyone else discovers this hidden gem! 🌊☀️✈️
