Remembering a moment in time from 15 years ago, that completely changed me.
I had joined Forever, just for the products, after taking ill health retirement, following a year of cancer treatment. Never looked at the business, but it just ‘happened’.
The journey began when I was in Spain on a free holiday, I had won for an incentive.
My mobile kept pinging and when I eventually answered, it was our Head office staff asking me to talk at the up-and-coming Success Day, 10 days from that day.
They wanted me to share my story, of course my lovely positive husband, John, immediately said you ‘can’t do that’, it will be too stressful.
I had been in Forever long enough to give him this answer ;
Forever must believe I can do it and not let them down, so I have to borrow their belief until I gain my own. That was it, I said yes.
I think the picture says it all. Not only the most amazing thing I have ever done.
Talking in front of 1100 people at Alexander Palace, but I learnt so much.
I was a nurse so had never done anything like this before.
John said ‘walk slowly on to the stage so you don’t fall’.
Maddie, our expert, said, ‘run on stage full of energy’. You can guess who’s advise I took.
John also disagreed with what I said next, I had just had surgery on my face to remove a cancer, so had a weird shaped face etc. I explained to the audience why that was, which broke the ice. I thought, otherwise they would spend the whole time, looking and wondering what it was, therefore not listen to me.
I can still picture every minute of that talk, and amazingly, what was going through my brain, while I was talking ! I still find that amazing.
Forever believed I could share my story with passion – I didn’t.
Forever believed people in that audience could benefit – I didn’t.
Forever believed I would not let them down - I didn’t
There were 3 things I was thinking while talking
The audience is very quiet and attentive. No one was leaving the room.
How can I be thinking these things while delivering my talk ?
So many layers to our brain. So what did I learn.
Be guided by others who know more than you, as they can see things in you, you cannot.
I now knew I could do anything I wanted if I just believed I could.
What are you not doing that could move you forward in life ?
