📰 At Leander Architectural (incorporating the The Royal Label Factory), we’ve been following the latest coverage from BBC News on the incredible progress of the King Charles III England Coast Path 🌊

And we’re proud to say… we’re helping signpost it!

📸 Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our workshop, where we’re producing traditional cast fingerpost signs ready for installation along sections of the route in the South of England.

From raw castings ➡️ to finished, hand-painted signage — built to withstand the harsh coastal environment for decades to come.

This project will create the longest continuous coastal walking route in the world, opening up access to some of England’s most beautiful landscapes.

💡 As more sections are developed, there’s a real opportunity for councils and organisations to invest in high-quality, long-lasting wayfinding.

If you're involved in a coastal, countryside or public realm project — we’d love to help.

As always, it is a pleasure for the team at Leander Architectural to help mark these events & produce the very bespoke plaques for Spitfire Makers & the associated organisations. Good luck with your unveiling!

Today marks the 90th Anniversary of the maiden flight of K5054, the prototype Type 300. Known to those working on it simply as "The Fighter" it would soon be assigned the name that has become legendary "Spitfire".

Looking forward to helping unveil The Spitfire Makers latest Blue Plaque, at Southampton Airport, where it all began.

It is with great sadness that we share that Ted McAvoy, founder of Leander Architectural, passed away early on Friday 16 January 2026 after a suspected massive heart attack.

Ted founded the business over 30 years ago with his wife Sue, and dedicated much of his life to building Leander Architectural into a respected name for quality craftsmanship and restoration work.

Ted had fully stepped away from the business when it transferred into a limited company under new ownership in January 2023 and formally retired from ad-hoc work in October 2024, though he remained fond of the work and the people involved.

He is survived by his daughter and grandchildren, and our thoughts are with them at this time.

Ted’s influence and values will always remain part of Leander Architectural’s story, and the business continues as normal.

We are grateful for the foundations that Ted helped build and remain committed to carrying his legacy forward with integrity and care. Rest in peace Ted.

🎉 We’re delighted to share that the Oxfordshire Blue Plaques Board has unveiled a new plaque commemorating the inspiring life of John Henry Smythe at his former home, 1 Garden City in Thame, on 26 July 2025!

Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Smythe served as a navigator with the RAF’s Bomber Command during WWII and survived being shot down over Germany. After the war he was Senior Officer on HMT Empire Windrush and played a pivotal role in helping demobilised Caribbean servicemen settle in Britain. He later trained as a barrister and became one of Britain’s first Black QCs, before returning to Sierra Leone as Solicitor General and Attorney General.

Leander Architectural is proud to have cast this beautifully detailed plaque, which helps tell his story and records his years in Thame. Celebrating such inspiring lives and preserving heritage is why we love what we do!
