Weekend yellow wind warning | Derbyshire | Saturday 24–Sunday 25 October 2026

The Met Office updated its warning at 10:01am on Friday, extending the Storm Boelo warning south to include Derbyshire. It is valid from 12 noon Saturday until 9:00pm Sunday.

Strong winds and heavy rain may cause travel disruption, short-term power cuts and difficult conditions on exposed routes. The strongest gusts are expected farther north, but local residents, businesses, venues and event organisers should:

• secure loose outdoor items
• check travel updates before setting out
• review temporary structures, signs and outdoor event plans
• keep phones and power banks charged where practical
• avoid unnecessary exposure near trees and unstable structures during stronger winds

Follow the latest Met Office warning because the timing and area may change:
https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings

This is advance weather awareness, not a report of a local incident.

Darker evenings are here — take a moment to plan the journey home.

• Arrange transport before you leave where practical.
• Keep your phone charged and let someone know your plans.
• Use well-lit, familiar routes and stay aware of your surroundings.
• If something feels wrong, move towards a busy, well-lit place or ask venue staff for help.
• Call 999 if you or someone else is in immediate danger.

For venues and events, clear exits, visible staff and a sensible closing plan can help customers leave more safely.

BHPSS can discuss door supervision, event security and stewarding for local premises and events.

Yellow wind warning for Derbyshire | Friday 23 October 2026

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning covering Derbyshire from 10:00am to 9:00pm on Friday. Storm Austen may bring inland gusts of around 45–55mph, with locally heavy rain, possible travel delays and short-term power cuts.

Practical steps for residents, businesses, venues and event organisers:

• secure loose outdoor items before conditions worsen
• check road and public-transport updates before travelling
• allow extra time and take particular care on exposed routes
• review outdoor structures, signs and event plans
• keep phones and power banks charged where practical

Follow the latest Met Office warning because timings and areas can change.

Road safety outside schools | Derbyshire Dales | 21 October 2026

Derbyshire Police says local officers have received complaints about vehicles obstructing pavements, kerbs, yellow-line restrictions and “School Keep Clear” zones around schools in their beat area.

At drop-off and collection times:

• allow extra time for the journey
• keep pavements and kerbs clear for pedestrians
• leave yellow lines and “School Keep Clear” markings unobstructed
• avoid parking where children and drivers cannot see each other clearly

This is a Derbyshire Dales safety reminder, not a report of an incident at a named school.

For local events and venues, BHPSS can discuss event security and stewarding plans that support safer pedestrian and vehicle movement.

When an alarm activates out of hours, a clear response plan matters.

Keyholding and alarm-response arrangements can help businesses avoid relying on lone employees or improvised decisions. Useful plans set out who can access the site, who should be contacted, how concerns are escalated and how attendance is recorded.

BHPSS Ltd can discuss keyholding and alarm-response support for premises across Buxton, the High Peak and surrounding areas.

Halloween planning for Buxton, Hayfield and the High Peak | 20 October 2026

Derbyshire Police has issued fresh advice ahead of 31 October: help make Halloween enjoyable without disturbing neighbours who would rather not take part.

• Prefer no callers? Download the police “No Trick or Treat” notice from the link below and display it in your window.
• Respect those notices and homes without Halloween decorations.
• Children should have a responsible adult with them. Choose bright or reflective clothing and take care near roads.
• Never enter a stranger’s home, and leave other people’s property alone.

The police page also links to the Derbyshire ASB Hub for reporting problem behaviour.

This is seasonal safety awareness across Derbyshire—not a report of a local incident or rising crime.

Organising a local Halloween event? BHPSS can discuss event security and stewarding: [email protected] | 07725 956232.

School allergy planning — Buxton and High Peak | 19 October 2026

The MHRA has opened a UK-wide consultation on allowing schools to buy and hold spare adrenaline nasal sprays alongside spare auto-injectors.

This is a proposal, not a new permission already in force. School-held supplies would remain a backup, not a replacement for pupils’ own prescribed medication.

Local school staff, parents and carers can read the proposals and respond by 14 December 2026. Useful points to consider are staff training, clear emergency arrangements and how any future change would fit pupils’ individual healthcare plans. Continue following current guidance and prescribed care plans.

Official consultation and response link:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/consultation-on-schools-holding-adrenaline-nasal-sprays-for-anaphylaxis

This is a national policy update, not a local incident or treatment instructions. It does not replace practical training or individual clinical advice.

For general workplace first-aid training enquiries, contact BHPSS: [email protected] | 07725 956232.

The MHRA are seeking feedback on proposals to amend the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 to allow schools to hold Adrenaline Nasal Sprays to treat anaphylaxis in pupils.

Planning a local event? Security and stewarding work best when they are considered early.

A clear plan should cover entry points, crowd movement, vulnerable people, lost children, incident reporting and what happens if circumstances change.

BHPSS Ltd can discuss event security, SIA-licensed security, stewarding and overnight guarding arrangements suited to your event and risk assessment.

Glossop home-security advice — Saturday 17 October 2026

Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team will be at Shirebrook Park, Glossop, today from 2pm to 3pm, offering home-security advice.

If you live nearby, this is an opportunity to speak to your local police team. Take along questions about your doors, windows or outbuildings and ask which improvements would be useful for your home. Check the police announcement below before travelling; it names Shirebrook Park but does not give an exact meeting point.

This is a police community advice session, not a BHPSS event or a report of a local crime increase.

Martyn’s Law: a planning update for Buxton and High Peak venues

ProtectUK published updated national FAQs on 15 October 2026. This is a UK-wide guidance update, not a local threat alert.

The “principal use” regulations took effect on 15 October, but the compliance duties for qualifying premises and events are not yet in force. Official guidance currently expects those duties in spring 2027; an exact start date has not been confirmed.

Useful steps for local venues and event organisers:
• Check the official guidance to establish whether your premises or event will be in scope—attendance alone does not decide this.
• Identify who has legal responsibility. Tasks can be assigned to contractors, but that responsibility cannot simply be transferred.
• Review response plans and make sure staff understand their roles.

BHPSS can discuss event security and stewarding to support your arrangements. Hiring security does not itself establish compliance; use Home Office and SIA guidance for legal requirements.
