Yesterday, a wildfire spread to nearby homes in Pantside, and two members of our care team faced a devastating loss. While they were out fulfilling their duties, caring for clients who rely on them daily, their house was destroyed by the fire, along with all of their belongings.
It's a sobering reminder of the sacrifices our care workers make, often quietly, often without recognition. They show up for others even when life is uncertain. They give their time, energy, and compassion to people who need it most, often putting others' wellbeing ahead of their own.
Now, it's our responsibility, and our privilege, to give that same care back to them.
As an organisation, we are fully committed to supporting our colleagues in every way we can as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives. This is more than a workplace response; it's a reflection of who we are as a team and as a community.
We believe that looking after the people who look after others isn't optional. It's essential.
To our colleagues: your dedication inspires us daily, and we are honoured to stand by you now.
