So proud of this small group of volunteers, and honoured to have been their secretary for the last year. The recognition will mean a lot to Camborne as a whole.

We are delighted to announce that Camborne Trevithick Day CIC has been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, the equivalent of an MBE for the organisation. The honour recognises the hard work of the committee, and the value of what we do, for the community in Camborne. Huge thanks to the current and past committee members whose hard work is very much appreciated, and also to our supporters and sponsors. Thanks also to those who assisted in the application process for the KAVS.

So I have a new website!
It's been a little while in the creation, but it's here now.

Big thanks to Emily Tarrant at Webfooted Designs for the fresh, modern design, and Matt French at Retina Digital for seamless transfer and ongoing hosting. Dave at Dave Scoffin Photography is responsible for the smart new photos, and my sister Steph proofread for me (yes, even professional proofreaders need proofreaders).

I've written a couple more blogs, one continuing the series on being my own client, and one for writers, about why you might need a proofreader.

My shiny new website is closing in on the finish line now, which is exciting and scary all at once. https://hdwords.co.uk/being-my-own-client-part-6/ so I need to mention Emily Tarrant at Webfooted Designs, who is building it, and Mathieu French at Retina Digital who is going to be hosting it.

I've also been proofreading a book which has been great fun, and reminded me that I needed to re-publish a blog I'm recycling from a few years ago, about why authors need a proofreader. The author I'm working with has put a lot of effort into his words, that is very clear to see. The story flows well and is gripping. However, he was too close to see some issues. At one point, in a tightly packed timeline, Friday night flowed into Sunday, and Monday happened twice. And a woman getting ready for a posh gala didn't think about her shoes! I mean!!

Another quick post on the process of revamping my own website. I spent a chunk of yesterday having new photos taken by Dave Scoffin, along with as near as I can get to 'product shots'.

I'm going to have a new website soon!
It's exciting, and slightly scary, but I'm working with Emily Tarrant of Webfooted Media, who I know will do a great job.
Being my own client, writing content for my own website, is a new challenge. I'm going to document the process, to learn from it how best to support my own clients, and maybe give folks some insights along the way!
