Do you need more leads? When I meet business owners I'll often ask them what they need more of. And a lot of the time they'll say that they need more leads. Yet, that is not the case for most owners that I've met over the last 16 years. To determine whether it is, we will collect and analyse the following data;

* Leads - How many leads they are generating. [we’ll assess lead quality soon afterwards]

* Conversion Rate - How many of those leads are they converting into customers

* Average Value Sale - What, on average, customers are spending

* Number of Transactions - How often are customers buying.

What we most often find is that the business doesn't need more leads - it just needs to be better at converting the leads that they are getting.

I find it interesting when owners invest more time, money and resources into generating leads than they do into converting them. It's akin to having the bath's taps running without the plug in!

Sales training / coaching can be a quicker and easier way for a business to increase its revenue, and can provide a better ROI, than investing in more marketing.

During a particularly tough training session, I got thinking about what gets people through tough times.

Tough times could be just a task. It could be a tough hour,a tough training session, a tough conversation. It could be longer than that. It could be days, weeks, months, even years. And these tough times could be expected or unexpected. And sometimes they're expected, yet tougher than we expected.

From my personal experience and my professional experience of 17 years in the coaching industry, it seems to me that there’s a correlation between how clear and important someone’s dreams are and the strength of their emotional connection to it and how tough a time they can endure and overcome.

What’s your thoughts on this, please do share, I'd love to read them.

I've been thinking about a START - STOP - CONTINUE exercise that I use with my clients - I use it myself a lot as well, of course.

I'm wondering, how often do you review what you've been doing? Such as a call, a meeting, your performance over the last week or month or quarter?

And, how often do you take time to consider;

* What is it that you need to START doing?
* What is it that you need to STOP doing?
* And what is really, really good that you need to CONTINUE doing?

Now… being that it is January, let's relate this back to New Year's resolutions.

How many of your resolutions have been around STARTING to do something?

Such as starting to exercise more, starting to eat better, starting to read more, to learn more? Or to spend more time with your family or more time with your team?

How many of your resolutions have been around STOPPING to do something? Stopping eating those biscuits, stopping doom-scrolling?

How often have you assessed what's great about you and then made a resolution to CONTINUE to do those things?

This exercise is as useful in life as in business. Review your last exercise session, your last chat with a family member... Review your last business call, your last meeting... Run the exercise at the end of your day, your week, your month, your quarter and your year.

1. Write down your 'starts', 'stops' and 'continues'
2. Put them somewhere you can see them to give yourself a constant reminder of them
2. Run the exercise often and consistently

To learn more about how this could help you and your business, please get in touch today.

Today's ‘Rich Thinking’ question is - are you getting busy in January? Perhaps busier than you were in December? Perhaps being busier than you are in a normal month?

I would challenge you and ask, are you making a mistake by doing that?

Because if you're just taking a load of action - and you haven't got a plan in place that's linked to some goals, that's linked to your dream life - all that activity could be taking you in a direction you don't want to go.

Imagine you are in a rowing boat and decide to row faster. Which way will you go?

You'll go the way you're pointing with a deviation dependent upon the ocean currents and the wind. And the metaphor is that the ocean currents and the wind are the wider economic situation that includes factors such as government intervention, competition, consumer confidence, war and global pandemics….

You’ll definitely go somewhere without a destination in mind, yet you’ll perhaps not end up where you want to end up, so…

- - -

1. DREAM - Write down what your dream life looks like

2. GOALS - Break those dreams down into goals. Make them D.U.M.B goals - Dream-led, Uplifting, Meaningful and Behaviorals-led

3. LEARN - Understand what you need to learn to achieve, or better achieve, those goals and go learn it before you start to plan out your goals. You’ll write a much better plan after you’ve read a few books / attended a few conferences etc on the topic of your goals than you would if you didn’t!

4. PLAN - Write a plan, or a number of plans, to achieve your goals

5. ACTION - Now that you have plans in place, that are connected to your goals, that are connected to the life of your dreams, take the actions defined in your plan.

- - -

With this in place, then the actions you take will get you to where you want to go - the life of your dreams - regardless of the way those ocean currents are going and the wind's blowing as you can and will row against those currents…

Regardless of the wider economic situation and whatever the government, your competitors, consumer confidence, war and global pandemics might be doing, your actions will now row you against those currents to your destination - the life of your dreams.

As always your thoughts, comments and questions are very welcome and please do share this - with whoever you think would get value from it - and to subscribe for more great content.

All the very best, Rich.

How well are you equipped for 2025? Are you going to use the same physical and mental equipment as you used in 2024?

How risky is that with the likely economic downturn that’s being forecast?

The same equipment in a worse economy will likely bring you worse results so why not upgrade your physical and/or mental equipment to ensure your business grows regardless of what happens in the wider economy?

Contact me today to learn more about how you could benefit from upgrading the equipment [mental and physical] in your business!
