Before you disappear into the Easter break, can I ask you one question?

What would change if you spent the next 8 weeks investing in yourself, not just your research?

The next UNIque cohort starts on 15th April. That's less than two weeks after you get back from the holidays.

Here's the practical bit:

📅 5 live sessions, 1 hour each, every two weeks (15 April – 10 June)
📘 4 self-paced modules you can fit around your research
👩‍🔬 A cohort of 20+ women researchers from across the UK
💷 £125 + VAT

If you've been thinking about it, over the last few posts, or for longer, this is your nudge.

You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up.

Drop me a message or email [email protected] to enquire about a place.

I didn't set out to build a women's development programme.

I set out to solve a problem I'd lived through.

As a physics postdoc at Cambridge, I was often the only woman in the room. I didn't have a coach. I didn't have a peer network of women who understood my experience. I didn't have anyone telling me that the way I felt, small, uncertain, apologetic, wasn't a reflection of my ability.

I figured it out eventually. But it took far too long, and it was far too lonely.

When I moved into researcher development, I saw the same patterns everywhere. Brilliant women downplaying their achievements. Hesitating to apply. Doing the academic housework while others advanced. Wondering if they were the only ones who felt this way.

They weren't. And you aren't either.

Three things collided to create UNIque:

Passion — for helping researchers craft careers on their own terms.
Frustration — at a system that was losing too many brilliant people.
Desire — to play my part in making universities better for everyone.

UNIque is the course I needed and never had. I built it after twenty years in this space, and 394 women have experienced it so far.

If any of this speaks to you, I'd love you to be part of the next cohort.

15th April. £125 + VAT.

Imagine finishing a programme and knowing, really knowing, what you want to do next.

Not in a vague, "I should probably think about my career" way.

In a "here is my plan, here are my strengths, here is what I'm going to do about it" way.

That's what I hear from UNIque women. Not because I gave them the answers, but because the programme gave them the space, the structure and the community to work it out for themselves.

After 8 weeks, women tell me they:

→ Can articulate what makes their contribution distinctive
→ Feel confident putting themselves forward for opportunities
→ Have a clearer sense of direction, whether that's in academia or beyond
→ Have built a network of women who understand the journey
→ Have an actual plan, not just good intentions

One of the things I love most is watching women arrive on week one, slightly sceptical, slightly apologetic for taking time out of their "real work" and leave week eight with a completely different energy.

Your career development IS your real work.

Next cohort starts 15th April.

394 women.

5 UK universities, including Imperial, UCL and King's.

An Amazon best-selling book that grew from the programme.

And a new open cohort starting on 15th April.

UNIque is my flagship development programme for women researchers, from PhD students to professors and it's been running for several years now.

Here's what it looks like:

✦ 5 live workshopinars (1 hour, every two weeks, designed for time-poor researchers)
✦ 4 self-paced modules released in stages
✦ A dedicated platform with videos, exercises and community boards
✦ A cohort of 20+ women researchers from across different universities
✦ Supported by the Amazon bestselling UNIque Guide for Women

The whole thing runs over 8 weeks. No full-day workshops. No lectures. Just focused, evidence-based career development that respects your time and your intelligence.

The programme has been used as evidence for fellowship applications, gender pay gap action plans and Athena Swan awards. Several elements were adopted into my design for SeedWISE at the University of Oxford, now on its 9th cohort.

This isn't a webinar you'll forget by Friday. It's a proper investment in the researcher, not just the research.

£125 + VAT. Places are limited.

There's a question that haunts a lot of women researchers.

It usually shows up around year two of a postdoc, or in the middle of a fellowship application, or at 2am on a Sunday:

"What if I don't actually want this anymore?"

Closely followed by:

"But if I'm not a researcher, what am I?"

I hear some version of this almost every week. From women at Russell Group universities. From PhD students. From professors.

The problem isn't a lack of talent. It's a lack of space, space to think about your career with the same rigour you'd bring to a research question.

Nobody gives you that space. You have to take it.

That's what UNIque is for. Over 8 weeks, you'll work through four modules. You and the University, You and Yourself, You and Your Career, You and Your Goals, alongside a cohort of women who understand exactly what your life looks like right now.

It's not about having all the answers. It's about asking better questions.

Next cohort: 15th April 2026

Nobody warned me about this bit.

The bit where you have a PhD, or you're working towards one and you still feel like someone hired you by mistake.

Where your male colleagues seem to radiate confidence while you're rehearsing your opening line for a meeting you've been invited to attend.

Where you know you should be "networking" but the very word makes you want to hide behind your laptop.

Where career development sounds important but never quite makes it to the top of the to-do list.

I spent years feeling exactly like this. As a physics postdoc at Cambridge, I was often the only woman in the room. I didn't have a name for what I was experiencing. I just thought everyone else was better than me.

They weren't.

If any of this resonates, I built something for women like us.

It's called UNIque, a focused development programme for women researchers who want career clarity, confidence, and a community that actually gets it.

The next cohort starts 15th April. Places are limited.
