Business Brew

Business Brew We are a friendly, welcoming group; it’s not scary at all. We are not like some of the more disciplined networking groups.

Hi everyone — Adam here (founder of Business Brew).

Sharing a personal milestone: my new app GiftSnap has just gone live on both the App Store and Google Play, and Spotted in Ely have run a lovely piece on it today 🎉

I built it over the last three weeks at Lord Knows (my web and mobile studio). The idea came from watching a friend at her daughter's birthday party — phone in hand, frantically typing into her Notes app trying to remember who'd brought what. "Sam — Lego, Mia — unicorn book, the squishy thing was from… Lucy? Lily?" She was going to write thank-yous to every one of them. But between the logging and the writing, it was going to eat hours of her week.

GiftSnap fixes both halves:

📸 Snap each gift — AI works out what it is from the photo
✍️ Say or type who it's from
💌 AI writes a warm thank-you note in your child's voice
🎨 13 illustrated card designs — unicorns, football, princesses, space, plus all the major holidays
🖨️ Print or send each card by WhatsApp, email or text

20 thank-yous, from half an evening of writing to minutes. £2.99/year. First thank-you note is free.

📱 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/giftsnap/id6766195804
🤖 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.lordknows.giftsnap

If you've got young kids — or know any parents who'd find it useful — please give it a go and share with anyone you think might want it 🙏

Big thanks to Spotted in Ely for the coverage. Always nice to be recognised at home first 🇬🇧

This Tuesday, 19 May, we would love to have visitors at our weekly Business Brew breakfast at the Crown and Punchbowl in Horningsea.

07:15 to 08:30. Cooked breakfast included. £20.

It is a small, friendly group of local Cambridge business owners.
The kind where you actually get to know people, not just collect business cards.

This week Christopher Smith is giving our ten-minute spotlight talk, and there is space for a few guests.

Come along, eat well, leave with two or three new connections. Book at businessbrew.org or send me a message.

Welcome to Business Brew, we are a super-friendly business networking group based in Cambridge and Ely. We meet face to face and online.

We had a particularly good Wednesday this week, with two new members joining the Ely table.

Darren Wright, of Darren Wright Professional Builders, came along thanks to a referral that began as a project. Darren has been working with our electrician Matt Ferrie of Ferrie Electrical Services on a large build, and after enough chat between trades on site, Matt suggested he should come to a meeting and meet the rest of us. He did, he liked the room, he joined. That arc is exactly the way good networking is supposed to work. A job gets done well, the people doing it find each other useful beyond the job, and the group widens by one member who has already been vouched for in the most practical way there is.

Claire Grainge of Claire Grainge Wealth Management is also joining us, although in her case it is a transfer rather than a fresh start. Claire has been a regular at our Cambridge group for a while, but work commitments mean Tuesday mornings have stopped working for her diary. Rather than drop networking altogether she has pointed her car up the A10 and joined our Wednesday meeting instead. That flexibility is one of the reasons we run two groups, same warmth, same format, different day, no lost momentum.

A warm welcome to both of you. Bring your sixty seconds, bring an ask, and we will do what we always do.

If you are reading this and wondering whether one of the meetings might suit you, the next face-to-face dates for both Cambridge and Ely are on businessbrew.org, and visitors are always welcome.

On Wednesday 13th May, a handful of Brewers swapped breakfast for dinner and met at the new Limora Kitchen restaurant in Ely.

The weekly meetings give us a lot, the sixty seconds, the asks, the ten-minute spotlight, but every now and then it's nice to just have a proper evening out. You hear more about somebody's family, the holiday they have planned, the new property they're nervously about to take on. The bits of business chatter still surface, but mostly around the edges, which is usually when the most useful ones tend to.

Limora itself is lovely. It's warm in the way independent places are warm. The food is generous, the staff are friendly, and the room is the right level of noisy. If you're looking for somewhere to take a client, a partner, or just have a Wednesday off the sofa, it's worth the trip across.

I told myself I'd take photos for the website and social. I forgot. The conversation was that good, and by the time I remembered I was already deep into a slice of baklava the size of a small paving slab. So here you go, the only photo I came home with, of the only baklava in Ely big enough to make you reconsider the rest of dinner.

That's pretty much the spirit of these socials. Come along, eat well, leave knowing your fellow Brewers, just that bit better.

The next one will be on the social events page in the member's app as soon as I book one in.

Wednesday morning in Ely means one thing. Breakfast, a brew, and a roomful of friendly local business owners.
This week we're back at eSpace North in Littleport from 8am, with a ten-minute spotlight from Neil Winning of Diamond Flooring and Carpets Ltd. The rest of the morning is 60-second intros, delicious food, and the kind of chats that quietly turn into actual work later in the week.

No long contracts. No quotas. No awkward elevator pitches. Just good people growing good businesses over breakfast.
If you fancy coming along as a visitor, it's £10 and breakfast is on us.

Book your visit here: https://businessbrew.org/

See you Wednesday.

If you run a small business in or around Ely, why not join us on Wednesday morning for our friendly and supportive networking breakfast? It’s a relaxed group where local business owners meet, share ideas, support one another, and exchange valuable referrals. It’s also a great way to connect with others if you work alone and sometimes miss the camaraderie of a workplace.
