We are very proud to announce that we have helped secure a brilliant donation of £5000.00 from one of our suppliers RH AMAR for our chosen charity, Pilgrims Hospices Canterbury.

They do incredible work and offer such great care for those nearing end of life, diagnosed with terminal illness and support for families. Solely funded by donation and fundraiser events. I have no doubt their hard work and care will have been felt by many of us, through a family member/friend at one time or another over the years. We thank you for your service and please keep up the great work!

We would also like to thank RH Amar for their immense generosity and providing us the opportunity to put this great organisation forward to win the donation. It truly is a great initiative and its a privilege to be dealing with a supplier who are so keen to give back.

The last year in lockdown has been very testing for all businesses and industries, especially the wholesale industry with the hospitality and school sectors having to shut for the vast majority of it. Both sectors make up a large part of any food & drink wholesale business and have been sorely missed. With these closures comes a big loss of custom for our industry and have made times very difficult as we have had to keep the business open in order to service the care sector which I think we’d all agree is extremely important!

Great losses have been made through reduction of custom which in turn leads to loss of stock due to expiry dates, yet to date very little help has been offered to our industry.

We ask you our lovely customers to please spare a minute and sign this petition

Food and drink wholesalers are crucial to supplying hospitals, care homes and schools and are a lifeline for vulnerable communities. They are also integral to the post-pandemic economic restart. Despite this, they have been excluded from much Government support and face sector-wide closures.

Yesterday East Kent Foods celebrated 28 years.

28 years ago, in 1992, our Managing Director, Billy Plews and his wife Tina Plews, took the bold move and launched EKF amidst raising a young family. To date, EKF remains a family-run business.

Since then, we can say 2020 has been our most challenging year with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s restrictions, and as a result a lot of our schools, restaurant and bar business has been stagnant. On the other hand we have welcomed so many new customers this year from our Home Deliveries offering at the height of the pandemic, for which we have been truly touched and grateful for, and has meant our business has been able to continue operating despite the pressures faced.

We would like to thank all of our wonderful staff and customers in the past 28 years, old and new, for the continued support.

Here’s to the next 28 years, and to many new customers across the county 🎉
