The largest FCA fine of 2022 was £107.8m, handed out to Santander UK plc.

After uncovering severe and persistent deficiencies in its anti-money laundering (AML) controls, which had a direct impact on its Business Banking clients, the FCA imposed the fine. The regulatory authority determined that these failures had been ongoing for nearly five years.
