Beginning his career in hotels in the South East of England and London, Simon Howard moved to Cardiff in the early 80’s working in independently owned hotels and pursuing a degree in hotel management. Having subsequently worked with local restaurateurs, in both the kitchen and front of house, Simon Howard was recruited by Snr. As his right hand man they forged a partnership which saw the group expand from a little over a hundred covers in the centre of Cardiff to more than a thousand, over three restaurants with function rooms and nightclub offerings. Annual turnover increased to approaching £4 million. In addition, the ‘brand’ was expanded to a further four sites in the South Wales area, each of them now well established as independent businesses in their own right. Orchestrating a successful management buyout in 1999; when Cardiff hosted the Rugby world cup, the team began working with two very well respected London based restaurateurs (running the Ivy, La Caprice, J K Sheeky and the Wolsey at the time) beginning a roll out programme of the flagship restaurant Le Monde. As Operations Director, managing a multi-site organisation, and working at Board level with highly successful individuals has afforded Simon Howard invaluable experience in negotiating the pit falls of the hospitality industry and allowed him to expand his knowledge within the industry. Having assisted with the negotiations involved in set-ups, buyout outs and exit strategies as well as the subsequent sale of the businesses, Simon Howard took the opportunity to remain as Operations Director, and assisted with the restructuring and development of new revenue streams in Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham including the Soda Bar, Bunker, Mbargo and a further flagship Le Monde. Recognising an outlet for his unique talents Simon Howard set up Eureka Hospitality Solutions. This has allowed Simon Howard to impart some of his knowledge and experience, passion and operational know-how to help other individuals facing the challenges within the hospitality industry.
