🚗 Mobile enforcement will be starting on the M4

On 23rd January 2023, mobile enforcement will be starting on the M4, between junction 33 and junction 34.

Following the increase in speed attributed collisions, three speed surveys were conducted at different locations of the M4. These surveys measured a total of 213,372 vehicles, finding that 70,713 drivers were exceeding the speed limit, including 6,109 travelling at 85mph or higher.

| The law around using a mobile phone while driving is becoming stricter tomorrow.

Everyone knows it's an offence to use a phone when driving – it's a distraction and is dangerous. An offence is triggered whenever a driver holds and uses a device, regardless of why they’re holding it.

From March 25 the definition of using a phone will be expanded to include 👇

❗️ illuminating the screen
❗️ checking the time
❗️ checking notifications
❗️ unlocking the device
❗️ making, receiving, or rejecting a telephone or internet based call
❗️ sending, receiving or uploading oral or written content
❗️ sending, receiving or uploading a photo or video
❗️ utilising camera, video, or sound recording
❗️ drafting any text
❗️ accessing any stored data such as documents, books, audio files, photos, videos, films, playlists, notes or messages
❗️ accessing an app
❗️ accessing the internet
