A few more photographs from the Legal Awards ceremony last Thursday.

Sixteen members of the Mooneerams team attended the event, spread across two tables (9 and 10 in the main photo), so it was lovely to share the evening together.

Winning the Business Growth Award made it a night to remember, but the best part was celebrating it as a team.

We're delighted to share some good news.

On Thursday evening, Mooneerams Solicitors were honoured to receive the Business Growth Award at the Legal News Wales Awards 2026, held at the historic Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay.

Awards are always appreciated, but this recognition means even more because it reflects the hard work, commitment and care shown by every member of the Mooneerams team, day in and day out.

Over the past year we have continued to grow while staying true to what has always mattered most to us — putting injured people and their families first, providing straightforward advice, and helping clients secure the compensation they deserve.

A huge thank you to our wonderful team, our clients, professional contacts and everyone else who has supported us along the way. Your trust and confidence in us have played a big part in this achievement.

Congratulations to all our fellow finalists and winners, and thank you to Legal News Wales for a fantastic evening celebrating the Welsh legal profession.

Many injured people never make a claim at all.

Not because they are fine.
Not because the accident did not affect them.
But because they worry about cost, feel uncomfortable claiming, or fear being judged.

New research shows personal injury claims have more than halved since 2019.

That raises an important question: are we really living in a “compensation culture”, or are genuinely injured people being put off asking for help?

Compensation is not about getting something for nothing. It can help cover the pain, suffering, and disruption caused by an injury, as well as lost earnings, treatment, rehabilitation, and the pressure placed on family life.

Personal injury claims have fallen dramatically over recent years, despite large numbers of people continuing to suffer injuries caused by negligence.

Asbestos was banned in the UK more than 25 years ago.

So why is it still causing concern today?

The answer is simple: asbestos is still present in many older buildings. If it is damaged or disturbed, dangerous fibres can be released into the air.

Our latest blog looks at a recent factory fire that raised asbestos concerns, and explains why people are still being diagnosed with asbestos-related illness decades after exposure.

It also explains when a claim may still be possible, even where the exposure happened 30 or more years ago.

Another lovely review for Richard, and a good moment to say something a bit more personal.
Today is Richard Thomas’s last day with Mooneerams.

Richard joined us in January 2010 and has been an integral part of the firm ever since. Over the years, he has helped so many injured people through their claims with care, patience and quiet professionalism.

This review from Majid sums him up beautifully:

“Professional, supportive, and kept me informed throughout the whole process.”

That is exactly the kind of solicitor Richard has always been. Calm, steady, decent and completely committed to doing things properly for his clients.

He has been a much-loved colleague and friend. No one has a bad word to say about Rich. He is one of life’s genuinely good people.

We’ll miss him very much, but we wish him every happiness and success as he begins a new chapter working with his family business, away from the law.

All the best, Rich, and thank you for everything.

A stroke is always a medical emergency. But what happens when the warning signs are missed?

Our latest blog looks at when a delayed stroke diagnosis, missed symptoms, or a failure to arrange urgent treatment may amount to medical negligence.

Not every poor outcome after a stroke is caused by negligence. Sadly, some strokes can have devastating consequences even when medical treatment is prompt and appropriate.

But where symptoms should have been recognised earlier, treatment was delayed, or the wrong treatment was given, there may be grounds to investigate a possible claim.

We’ve written this guide in plain English to explain the issues involved, including what evidence may be needed and when it may be worth speaking to a clinical negligence solicitor.

What is a typical payout for a personal injury claim?

It’s probably the question we’re asked more than any other.

The honest answer is this: there isn’t such a thing as a 'typical' or 'average' payout.

Two people can suffer what appears to be the same injury, but the value of their claims may be vary different.

One may recover quickly.

The other may need time off work, treatment, care, or be left with symptoms that affect daily life for months or years.

That’s why personal injury compensation has to be based on evidence, not guesswork or an online calculator.

We’ve updated our guide on personal injury payouts in the UK. It explains how claims are valued, what the Judicial College Guidelines are, and why the final figure depends on the individual facts of each case.

A wonderful review for Andrew Last, and one that says a great deal about the difference the right solicitor can make.

After 8 years with another firm, this client came to Andrew for help. The case was moved forward quickly, professionally, and with the care and empathy the family deserved.

Well done, Andrew — a lovely review and a fantastic result for the client. 👏
