🏢 Our work in the COMMERCIAL SECTOR

With decades of experience across this sector, we know that painting and decorating isn't simply the last stage.

The finish and attention to detail on a project is undeniably important for creating a lasting impression and an attractive, welcoming environment for employees and customers alike, but... reliability, programme delivery and professionalism throughout the project are what set contractors apart.

We work with clients on Commercial projects from start to finish, taking time to fully understand the project requirements and plan our service around them, considering:

🤝Reliability:
Working to contractual agreements, meeting critical deadlines, responding quickly to any changes or issues, all whilst ensuring high quality standards throughout.

📈 Programme Delivery:
Proper understanding, resourcing and planning around the programme, particularly as commercial projects can often require the ability to scale up, mobilise at short-notice or undertake after-hours or weekend work to avoid trading times and to keep disruption to a minimum.

👷Operational professionalism:
Being a finishing trade means working around many other trades at a critical point in the project making effective communication and collaboration, robust health and safety practices and compliance are essential.

Through this approach, we've earned a reputation as a trusted construction partner and been appointed on some of the most complex and prestigious Commercial projects in the UK.

✨ A landmark transformation. A new chapter. A project to be proud of. ✨

We're incredibly proud to reflect on our contribution to the newly re-opened Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere.

Our team was entrusted with delivering the painting and decorating package... and creating the canvas for an ambitious design blend of mid-century character with contemporary luxury.

From the 116 guest rooms and suites to the 1000-capacity Grand Ballroom and the lavish 'Gordon Ramsay at The Mere' restaurant, every unique space demanded the highest standards of workmanship and finesse.

👷 Our highly experienced project team brought not only technical knowledge and operational know-how but an unwavering commitment to getting the details right. And at this level, the details really matter.

A huge thankyou and congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this exceptional project - the finished result is testament to the dedication and skill of the people behind it!

🥳 12 months on site. Thousands of litres of paint applied. 15 different styles of luxury wall fabrics hung. One team committed to excellence.

💭WHY DO WE TALK ABOUT THE 7 SECTORS WE WORK IN?

Because for our clients, experience matters.

At Story Decorating Group we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every sector has different demands, pressures and standards.

By demonstrating our knowledge and experience of specific sectors, our clients know that even before we arrive on site, we'll have an understanding of the environment, challenges and what's required to deliver successfully.

For our clients, that means:
✅ Confidence in our capability
✅ Proven experience on relevant projects
✅ Better understanding of the programme, compliance and site requirements
✅ An ability to anticipate challenges, not just react to them

That's the value of choosing STORY.

📌 Over the next 7 weeks we'll be revisiting projects across our 7 sectors and sharing our insight on our specific approach to each! Stay tuned...

📍Good progress is being made at HMP Glasgow!

The team have been pushing on with the internal decorating package, working closely with KIER. Mist and base coating is well underway in Blocks D and E following the sample cell sign-off.

Dust sealing throughout both blocks has begun and in some of the plant rooms, we're applying a bund sealer around the columns and perimeters.

We're also applying an epoxy coating system to walls and ceilings in some 480 shower units across both blocks, following a full surface preparation.

♻️ Our Washbox unit is proving a great asset on site, preventing the contamination of wastewater from tool washing and reducing water usage, all helping towards our sustainable working practices.

Further updates to come from Glasgow over the next few months but it's great to be playing our part on such a significant project in the area, with a growing team based at our recently opened Glasgow office!

👷 It was good to be back on site this week with Meldrum Group at Haithwaite Farm - an exciting new tourism development belonging to the Netherby Hall Estate.

With sustainability at its heart, they're committed to using specialist local contractors and labour where possible. We certainly qualify as 'local' with the site situated just 12 miles from the door of our Head Office!

Our early works within the Exhibition and Event space, Farm shop and Craft Workshop has included mist coating walls and spraying structural steelwork and ceilings in the scheme's distinctive 'Oxide Red'.

As progress continues, we'll be sharing updates on the next stage of the transformation...!
