Running a business on your own doesn't mean you have to figure everything out on your own.

One thing I've learnt from working with businesses over the years is that sometimes it's not more information you need.

It's someone to ask a question. Someone to sense-check an idea. A little guidance on what to do next. Or simply knowing where to find the right support.

November is already looking pretty full at Aim High Business!

There's been plenty happening behind the scenes, and I thought I'd share a little update on what I've been working on.

I've been supporting two clients with University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) tenders, progressing two ongoing property projects and, best of all, helping a client successfully secure funding through the Carmarthenshire Enterprise Fund towards a new build.

It's always lovely to see the work that goes into a funding application turn into something that will make a real difference to a business.

One thing I love about Aim High Business is the variety. One day it's tenders, the next it's funding or project management. No two clients or projects are ever quite the same!

And with November already filling up, it's a good reminder that planning ahead really does matter, especially when you're working towards funding deadlines or preparing to tender.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do in your business is stop.

Our first Aim Higher member session at Yr Egin was all about doing exactly that. Stepping away from the emails, customers and never-ending to-do list to ask:

Where is my business now?
What's working?
What isn't?
And where do I actually want to go next?
Because you can't make good decisions about where you're going if you haven't taken the time to understand where you are. And we're not stopping there.

Aim Higher members, have you made time to work ON your business this week?

Our first member session takes place this Friday, 18th September at Yr Egin, Carmarthen, and we’re starting with a really important question:

Where are you now in your business?
It sounds simple, but when you’re busy running a business, how often do you actually stop and ask yourself:

What’s working well?
What’s taking up too much time?
What isn’t working anymore?
And where do I actually want the business to go next?

This session is about giving yourself the space to take stock, have honest conversations and identify what deserves your attention over the coming months.

You don’t need to arrive with all the answers. That’s the point of the session.

Come along, step away from the day-to-day for a little while and spend some focused time working on your business alongside other Aim Higher members.

There’s a significant funding opportunity available for organisations in Wales looking to invest in new and innovative equipment.

The SMART Capital Equipment Fund is designed to support investment in areas including digitalisation, automation and advanced manufacturing technologies, with funding of between £50,000 and £250,000 available.

But before you jump straight into an application, think about the problem first.
Where is your business losing time?
What processes could be automated?
Could new equipment increase your capacity?
Could technology help your team become more productive or reduce waste?

Funding should help solve a genuine business need, not simply pay for something because a grant is available.
