This week, Our staff member Jean’s, daughter Ruby and former tourism academy participant Susan’s daughter Saorla represented their community at the Special Olympics, competing on Thursday and Friday in two events.

We are incredibly proud of her hard work, dedication, and determination to reach this achievement. Taking part in the Special Olympics is a fantastic accomplishment, and we know she will give it her very best.

To show our support, pupils and staff have come together to record a special good luck video, which you can watch below. 🎥

Please join us in wishing her the very best of luck for both events. We will be cheering her on every step of the way!

🌸 National Flower Week 🌸

To celebrate National Flower Week, we’re shining a spotlight on our Finance Executive, Melissa Shields. While Melissa is known for keeping the numbers in order at Carrickfergus Enterprise, outside of work she enjoys nurturing a colourful collection of flowers in her garden.

Over the past few years, Melissa has transformed her outdoor space into a vibrant haven filled with beautiful blooms, many of which she has grown herself from bulbs. What started as a hobby has blossomed into a real passion, with plenty of learning along the way.

Melissa’s advice for anyone thinking of growing flowers? “Sink or Swim” Her approach is simple , Gardening is one of those skills you learn best through experience.

This National Flower Week, we’re celebrating the joy, colour, and creativity that flowers bring to our lives. 🌷🌺🌼

Do you have a favourite flower or a garden full of blooms? We'd love to see your photos in the comments! 📸💐

We’re proud to be a Social Enterprise, but what does that actually mean?

Being a social enterprise means we exist to create positive impact in our community. Any surplus we generate is reinvested into supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, and economic growth across Carrickfergus and beyond.

Our mission goes beyond providing workspace. We help people start, grow, and succeed in business through support programmes, training, networking opportunities, and access to the resources they need to thrive.

When you choose Carrickfergus Enterprise, you're not just supporting a business, you're supporting an organisation that invests back into local people, local businesses, and the local economy.

Together, we're building stronger businesses and stronger communities. 💙

💛 This week is Loneliness Awareness Week, and this year's theme is Giving Loneliness a Voice.

Loneliness is a natural human emotion that many of us experience at different times in our lives. By talking about it openly, we can help reduce stigma and create spaces where people feel seen, heard and understood.

At Carrickfergus Enterprise, connection is at the heart of what we do. Whether it's one of our coffee mornings, social activities, or simply popping in for a chat, our door is always open.

Sometimes a conversation over a cup of coffee can be the start of a new friendship. The campaign highlights the power of these small moments of connection, reminding us that even simple interactions can make a real difference.

If you're feeling isolated, lonely, or just fancy some company, come and see us. There is always a friendly face and a warm welcome waiting.

🧵✨ Happy National Sewing Machine Day! ✨🧵

Today, we're celebrating the skill, creativity and passion that sewing brings to so many businesses and communities. That's why we're shining a spotlight on Jo Craig of Fabric Design.

From treasured memory bears to repurposed clothing and unique handmade gifts, Jo creates beautiful pieces that combine creativity, care and sustainability in every stitch.

As a member of Enterprising Women MEA, Jo has embraced opportunities to develop her business, build new connections and reach new customers. Here's what she had to say:

"Enterprising Women has been a fantastic asset to my business through truly incredible workshops that have taught me skills that I have been able to directly implement into marketing my business, networking events that have provided opportunities to meet and receive advice from other like-minded and talented women in the area and the chance to partake in the annual Showcase has just been wonderful for meeting new customers!"

Stories like Jo's show how a creative hobby can grow into a successful business with the right support, skills and network behind it.

⭐️Flashback Friday ⭐️
Last year, our Tourism Academy participants had the opportunity to develop their customer service skills through WorldHost™ training, delivered by the fantastic Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing.

From making a great first impression to creating memorable visitor experiences, participants gained practical skills and confidence to help them shine in the tourism sector. 🌟

The programme brought together aspiring tour guides, accommodation providers, seasonal support staff and heritage site volunteers, all eager to enhance their knowledge and contribute to delivering exceptional welcomes across our local tourism industry.

As part of the Tourism Academy delivered by Carrickfergus Enterprise through Go Succeed NI, participants also benefited from a range of training opportunities designed to prepare them for exciting careers in tourism.

Looking back, it's inspiring to see the impact this training has had in equipping future tourism professionals with the tools to succeed and create unforgettable experiences for visitors. 💙
