🐝 Wasp Nest Call-Out – Why Blocking the Entrance Doesn't Work! 🐝
Today we attended a property where the homeowner had tried to stop a wasp problem by filling the nest entrance with wet cement.
Unfortunately, the wasps had simply chewed and pushed their way straight through the cement to reopen the entrance! This is a common mistake and can actually make the situation worse.
⚠️ Why you should never block the entrance to a wasp nest:
• The wasps will often create a new exit, sometimes into your loft or even inside your home.
• Disturbing the nest makes the colony much more defensive and increases the risk of painful stings.
• Large nests can contain thousands of wasps, and multiple stings can be dangerous, particularly for anyone with an allergy.
The safest and most effective solution is to have the nest professionally treated. Once the treatment has worked and all wasp activity has stopped, the entrance can then be sealed if necessary to help prevent future problems.
If you've noticed wasps regularly flying to the same spot, don't block the hole—give us a call instead.
