On Friday I went to High Peak Network and I'm really glad I did! I met some genuinely lovely people and had some great conversations, the kind where you walk away thinking I'm so glad I came today.

We had a great talk from Jo Gendle and one of the points raised did get me thinking about how I'm showing up online. I'm constantly deleting that photo that doesn't look flawless and it can be relentless trying to capture the perfect one. I don't live in a constant state of perfect lighting and I'm rubbish at staging desk photos.

Using real photos and videos, not feeling like everything has to be perfect and polished all the time, is something I'm learning to do. People connect with real people, real photos, imperfect feeds, connecting with the honest story behind the business and the person behind the brand.

Showing the real side of you and your business is often the most powerful thing you can do.

🧡FEB MEET UP 💙

Last week at High Peak Network, Jenni from CX Heroes joined us to talk about customer experience.

Completely chilled session, but it definitely gave everyone food for thought and something solid to take away.

We came away with some proper takeaways, especially around the difference between a review and feedback. They are not interchangeable — a review builds visibility and reputation, while feedback helps you improve what is actually happening inside your business. If you’re not being intentional about both, you’re leaving growth on the table.

What made it even more relevant is that Jenni works with both large corporations and small businesses. The principles are the same. Whether you’re a one-person business in the High Peak or part of a bigger team, customer experience still matters.

That’s what these mornings are about. Honest conversations. Practical ideas. Local businesses supporting each other without any awkward pressure.

Jenni spent over 10 years in military intelligence, understanding why people do what they do, what they want, and what they need. She then moved into the corporate world, working in a range of customer experience roles at Amazon, one of the world’s most customer-obsessed companies.

She’s now working independently as a CX consultant, supporting small and micro businesses to build customer experiences that genuinely work.
