WHAT THE CUSTOMER ASKED FOR vs WHAT WE ACTUALLY DELIVERED 👇

The customer asked us to remove the existing fused spur before the wall was finished. Their plan was then to run an extension lead down from the wall-mounted TV.

While we were there, we suggested a cleaner solution: use the existing supply and install a double socket behind the TV, plus another lower down for the soundbar and any other media equipment.

No extension lead running down the finished wall, fewer visible cables, and the setup is ready before the decorating is completed.

The customer was delighted with the change.

For us, it’s not just about doing exactly what we’ve been asked to do. It’s about looking at how the customer will actually use the space and, where we can, suggesting a better solution before it’s too late.

⚠️ A shower isolation switch is NOT RCD protection.

We were called out to replace an electric shower after another company declined the job because its supply had no RCD protection.

On inspection, we found the shower supply bypassed the consumer unit and ran through a separate isolation switch. Although the board had RCDs, they weren’t protecting this shower circuit.

An isolator lets you switch the power off. It doesn’t detect an earth-leakage fault and disconnect the supply like an RCD.

In a bathroom, that missing protection matters.

Does your setup look similar, or are you unsure how your shower is protected? Have it checked—appearance alone won’t tell you whether it’s safe.
