Hope everyone is keeping as well & as sane as possible in these surreal times.
Here is an update on the latest measures to support businesses through the coming months. Please do share & tag to anyone that may find this useful. I will also do an update for employees & more personal measures tomorrow. I - like many of you - will be working around my children being at home, so please do bare with me!
PAYE;
Corona Virus Job Retention Scheme - every employer can access a grant to cover 80% of employees salary if they are designated as a furloughed worker Cap on this is £2500 & will run for 3 months initially. It can be backdated to 1st March.
SSP can be reclaimed from the government for periods of two weeks for Corona related absence. Business must have fewer than 250 employees.
VAT;
No VAT will be paid by any business from now until the end of June. You will have until the end of the financial year to pay. Reporting should still be completed.
Self Employed;
The July Payment on Account for income tax has been deferred until January 2021. You do not need to take action/apply, this will be done automatically.
Can claim SSP equivalent at £94.25 for Corona related sickness. Sole traders can access Universal Credit immediately with threshold removed.
Corona Business Interruption Loans;
Available from major banks, 80% guaranteed by the government. Terms for 3 months to 10 years. Interest free for 12months, available from 23rd.

Business Rates Holiday;
For the retail, hospitality or leisure industry. This will be applied automatically.
There are also grants available for these industries, your local authority will be in contact if you are eligible.
Grants for businesses that pay little or no rates;
Available to those that receive Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rate Relief there is a one of grant of £10,000. Again, no action required, your local authority will be in touch
HMRC Time to Pay;
Any business or self employed person in financial distress with outstanding tax liabilities that has or may miss a payment due to Covid-19 can call a dedicated helpline;
