In 2 weeks, on 1st September, I will be at the Orkney International Science Festival to share, with my colleague Prof Susan Krumdieck, to share our introduction to Transition Engineering.

You can also join online for the livestream of the event. https://oisf.org/fest-event/engineering-the-future-2/

I'll also be leading some sessions with delegates to work through the stages of the methodology on their own areas of interest, as we take "Tea for Transition".

Transition Engineering is the way you can decide, based on evidence, what exactly YOU should do next to bring about change. When David Attenborough and Gretha Thunberg say "take action", and you have a load of different conflicting options, this is how you decide how to prioritise them, or find a different course of action that's better than the obvious ones.

The real limits to business as usual are becoming harder to ignore. Is there any w...

We are exploring sustainability through a tea bag. Here is work in progress... feel free to suggest ideas.

A working group has been set up to explore the climate impacts of a teabag. Daniel Kenning explores how Transition Engineering would tackle this issue.

Professional Engineering Magazine asked to interview me about Transition Engineering - here is the article as published.
They omitted to say that I am a Fellow of IMechE and for 7 years was Chair of the IMechE Energy Environment and Sustainability Group.

Professional Engineering magazine requested an interview about Transition Engineering. It was published in the Issue 2, March/April 2022. They mostly ...

Never Mind the Greenwash here's the TRANSITION

Some throughts on where we are, where we need to get to, the perils of greenwash and punk rock.

Why are environmental crises getting worse when everyone has been working so hard for so long on technologies to reduce environmental harms? What do we need to do instead? What exactly is Greenwash, why is it done, what is the risk, and how can we avoid those risks and do something better? It’s ti...

HOW to do what everyone at COP26 will say NEEDS doing....

On 4th November I will be in Glasgow for COP26, introducing Transition Engineering at an IMechE fringe event / hybrid webinar. You can book for in-person or online participation here:

Thursday 4th November: Engineering for Climate Stability
https://events.imeche.org/ViewEvent?e=7452

The event is free, please feel free to share the invitation widely. The more people know about Transition Engineering, the better we can deal with the challenges of climate change.

This will be relevant to engineers, policy makers, natural and social scientists, economists, creatives, professionals and community leaders.

Splendid Engineering has a new place for downloadable resources about Transition Engineering.

We will add resources as we can create them. Let us know if there's anything specific you'd like to see.

We invite colleagues to translate the 1-page briefing document into your own language to help everyone understand Transition Engineering.

Signing petitions is a fine thing to do - but ALSO, every one of us spends our days doing more than just "being consumers" (whatever that means). It is in changing how we do what we do - at work in all the professional decisions we make, as well as at leisure, that we can bring about change.
We have developed Transition Engineering as a methodology for all professionals to use to make decisions that will enable a change in direction, away from "business as usual" and towards a better future.

The UK is hosting global climate talks - the government must act now to lead the way on climate change.

Jackie Carpenter has been an inspiration to me for over 20 years, in her understanding of sustainability and her application of engineering to help to achieve it. I am very happy to see her recognised as an Engineering Hero by the Women's Engineering Society . Well done Jackie, and keep on keeping on!

Happy 🎉 We would like to send a huge congratulations to the six members of IMechE who we awarded the Top 50 Women in Engineering ! ⭐Caitlin...
