Last Thursday we attended The Education Business Conference 2026 Schools North East at Vertu Arena.

We held a knowledgable session with Dave Orford, Alan Goodwin, and Martin Wilson as speakers. Alongside running an immersive tabletop exercise focusing on Cyber, AI, and Data Risk in schools.

We had a great day attending and it was a fabulous networking opportunity and it was great to meet and interact with everyone. If anyone would like to continue any conversations we had at the event, please get in touch!

A couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of visiting one of our community partners PACT House Stanley. Inside, is home to DH9 Radio, a brilliant radio station open to all, ranging from live and pre-recorded shows to podcasts and music broadcast worldwide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

On top of that they also play audio dramas and audiobooks, often working around their community and play audiobooks that the local schools are working through. With all sorts of genres, and types of shows there is something for everyone.

🎙️ YOU also have the possibility to pitch your own radio show or idea to DH9. You can book in your own slot to broadcast your voice across their radio station and be heard worldwide. Whether you are a local band or someone who wants to share your voice. Get in touch with them and book a slot: [email protected]

At Digital Safety, we want to help shine a light on these local community spaces, and give our communities a voice.✨

If you run a community space and would like us to visit, collaborate, or showcase what you do, we’d love to hear from you!

We are thrilled to share that we’ve successfully secured a bid for an exciting project from The National Lottery Community Fund!

LOOP: Linking Opportunities, Organisations & People is a community-led project that strengthens local connections by bringing together resources, reuse, digital inclusion, and trusted grassroots support.

The LOOP project will make a difference by reducing financial pressure, food insecurity, and digital exclusion, while improving wellbeing, confidence, and trust.

It will also reduce waste and help to create a more joined-up local system, in a secure digital space.

People who will benefit include individuals and families experiencing food poverty, parents needing affordable school clothing, people with low digital confidence or limited access, and community volunteers.

We’re grateful for the chance to bring our expertise and look forward to delivering exceptional results with the project!

To learn more about this project or stay updated on its progress, please follow us or email us for more information:

This afternoon, our CEO, Barbara, is taking part in today’s Digital Inclusion Forum hosted by Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria.

The forum brings together regional voices to explore how we can support, connect and drive a more inclusive and accessible digital transformation agenda.

Digital inclusion is central to building safer, more confident communities. It means helping people not only get online, but feel informed, supported and protected once they are there.

We’re proud to be part of today’s conversation and look forward to sharing ideas, learning from others and helping shape future approaches to digital inclusion.

Missed today's forum? Future Digital Inclusion forums are taking place on 14th September and 9th November - contact us for more details on [email protected]

🎮👾 Devices in children’s hands are more common than ever 👾🎮

Whether it’s a new purchase, a gift, or a hand-me-down, many children are getting access to phones, tablets, and gaming consoles at different points throughout the year.

Before they start exploring, it’s important to take a few simple steps to help keep them safe online.

✔️ Set up privacy settings to control what information is shared
✔️ Enable parental controls to manage content and screen time
✔️ Create secure accounts with strong passwords
✔️ Talk to your child about what’s okay to share and who they interact with

These small actions can make a big difference in protecting your child’s online experience.

📣 We're Searching For a Lead Volunteer | Digital Safety CIC

🌐 Help us build something that actually matters.

At Digital Safety CIC, we believe technology should work for people, not the other way around. We put the person at the centre of everything we do, and now we're looking for someone to help us grow the community that makes that possible.

We're on the lookout for a Lead Volunteer to work directly with George Spour, Community Outreach Manager, to build and shape a brand-new volunteer programme from the ground up.

This isn't a 'turn up and help out' role. This is a founding role. You'll be helping to recruit, structure, and develop a team of volunteers who can bridge the gap between technology and the communities that use it, on both the technical side and the community engagement side.

✅ What you'll be doing:
→ Co-designing the DS CIC volunteer programme with George
→ Recruiting and supporting a team of tech and community volunteers
→ Helping connect people with the digital skills, safety, and support they need
→ Making real decisions that shape how we grow

✅ What we're looking for:
→ Experience building or coordinating a volunteer or community programme
→ Passion for digital safety, inclusion, or community development
→ Someone who can speak both 'tech' and 'people'
→ A self-starter who doesn't need hand-holding, but will always have support

💡 No formal qualifications required. Lived experience, sector knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm absolutely count.
💡Level 3 AET available if required.
💡Enhanced DBS required, but we’ll supply it.

This is a voluntary role, but it carries real weight, real responsibility, and real impact.

Interested? Drop us a message or email [email protected] and tell us a bit about yourself and why this role speaks to you.

🔁 Know someone who'd be perfect? Tag them or share this post, you might just change someone's path.
