It's a wrap! Backfilling some of the trenches to make them safe as there are a few days before the digger comes back. This is how we stay healthy (or damage our backs!). End of an interesting 2 weeks with mostly prehistoric and bronze age ditches. One or two with Roman pottery thrown in the bottom.

Amazing weather as we approach the end of the dig near Goodwood.

Our Committee is always looking to broaden the appeal of the Association and so we are going to try a Quiz night - our first such event!

To lighten the approach of Winter, we have booked the Jubilee Hall in the New Park Cinema for 8th October.

Please arrive at 7:15 in the main building if you would like to buy a drink and snacks from the usual bar. There will be an interval. End time is approx 10:30.
Bring your own food and drink if you would like to.

The quiz will begin as soon as possible after 7:30 (Once the Flamenco Group have left!!). If you come as a group then there is a max of 6 persons per group. If you come as individuals you can sit where you like of course. You will probably already know many of the participants.

TO BOOK: Simply reply to this email.
The cost is Β£5 per person. Please bring CASH ONLY on the day. If your team win, you will be getting some of it back!

We are very grateful to have an experienced quizmaster - Ian - who has volunteered to run the show for us.
He says he knows nothing about archaeology so the questions will all be general knowledge. No tricky stuff about Iron Age dates or the Durotriges, although I do remember a great CDAS lecture a few years ago about Pompeii where the speaker asked us when Vesuvius erupted and the whole room chanted 'August 4th, 79 AD' with one voice! I was very proud!

Looking forward to seeing you all.
I will send out reminders by email and in the Newsletter.
