Well it's now 13 years from being made redundant from prodrive after subaru pulled out of the world rally championship. I spent 4 years there, I used to build Solberg and Atkinsons wrc shells. I also repaired them after use for sales, built group N body shells for customers and did the odd Aston Martin cage too.
Since setting up wolfys workshop I have mainly done stainless exhausts, which I did for 7 years after leaving school and prior to my prodrive days for GDS exhausts. But I did some contracting in the early days of wolfys workshop when I wasn't that busy, I made the prototype NGTC Toyota shell pretty much single handed while 2 other chaps made the subframes and all other bolt ons. The idea went through and they got orders so I spent a couple of years doing quite a bit of contracting and at one point about 20% of the grid in British touring cars were shells I'd built while contracting, all the toyotas, a proton and 2 audis.
I've restored a couple of car shells in my workshop too but after I started having more serious bad back issues I concentrated on exhausts again and continue to do so. I had some tough years with my back problems but 5 or 6 years ago I was diagnosed with Ankylosing spondylitis, sometimes flares would make me bed ridden for weeks on end! Well luckily I've now been on biologic immune suppressant injections for over 4 years and I'm in better health than I've been for probably 10 years. These injections have given me the ability to work much harder again without having lots of down time with flares, for this I'm very thankful.
Well the last couple of years have been the best I've had and I hope that i continue to progress. This last week there have been 13 cars doing the safari rally in kenya using exhausts system sections i build for the company who build the cars.
My workshop needs some changing right now, which needs to be done in between my workload but once done will allow me to offer more to potential customers. I don't post too much because I do a lot of the same work these days, but i will post more when I do different stuff.
Thanks to all my customers for keeping me busy, I enjoy what I do. Long may it continue!!!
