On Tuesday evening we welcomed over 40 farriers to the hospital for an evening of continuing professional development (CPD). They enjoyed lectures from European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Lucy Meehan, European Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine, Jamie Prutton, and Equine Lameness Prevention Organization (ELPO) certified farrier, Chris Wiggins. The evening covered the use of MRI to treat foot conditions, managing laminitis with farriery and a closer look at the link between obesity and laminitis.

Coupling these pads with A15-A25 Dental Impression Material underneath are showing some brilliant changes to feet in a small amount of time

Stabilising the back half of the foot with a healthy amount frog pressure is a key aspect to keeping some horses on the road and promoting healthy foot growth👌🏽

Working in conjunction with the vet;

Presented with laminitis in one foot after a mild spell of lameness

Hogan Wide Bar Inserts we’re used on both feet;

Right fore has a standard barshoe fitted to help stabilise and maximise loading (meaning the horse can take the pressure off the left fore)

Left Fore; an open toe bar shoe was used to eliminate pressure at the toe with the insert supporting the back of the foot.

The use of Equi-Pac Pour in Pads to create a cushion to make the horse more comfortable during the recovery period
