Team Emoji was let out in the wild today to try our our shiny new Emoji Deck for the first time with the wonderful people of U3A Aughton ❤️

Emoji Deck is a resource which facilitates conversations on how we interpret different emoji. We used it today to understand generational gaps in online communication.

If you or your organisation might be interested in The CyberDoctor delivering a tabletop workshop or training session on emoji interpretation and the implications, you can find out more about our consultancy and CPD services here: https://lindakkaye.wixsite.com/dr-linda-kaye/domains-of-specialism

Are you fascinated by cyberpsychology? Have you ever wondered how you could make a successful career using cyberpsychology?! The CyberDoctor Director, Professor Linda Kaye's forthcoming book "Building a Career in Cyberpsychology" may be exactly what you need!

We are delighted that this book is now in production and shouldn't be long before it can be purchased.

"Building a career in cyberpsychology" introduces you to the various ways that cyberpsychology can be applied to different types of careers. From consumer insights, to cyber-defence, to digital strategy, this book will give you a glimpse into how cyberpsychology can underpin issues, challenges and opportunities in these contexts. At the heart of all these careers, is a critical understanding about how human factors can be understood and applied within digitally-mediated environments.

One of our ongoing projects is to establish sensory perceptions associated with emoji.

This is a really fun project to be leading, where we are replicating the Lancaster Sensorimotor Norms research. This is essentially exploring the strength of different perceptions associated with concepts represented in emoji, specifically across a range of senses.

This project is led by The CyberDoctor Director, Professor Linda Kaye, with collaborators Dr Dermot Lynott and Dr James Brand who were the original authors on the Lancaster research, as well as early career researcher Lee Hurley, and two undergraduate interns Rebecca Fuller and Sneha Thomas.

If you work in marketing or similar, and are interested in knowing how you could use our sensory data to inform the use of certain emoji in your communications, The CyberDoctor would be happy to discuss consultancy opportunities with you 🤓

I'm delighted to share the first iteration of my Cyberpsychology Career Case Studies slidedeck which is freely available for those who wish to use these who teach cyberpsychology, are involved in career advising or for any cyberpsychology enthusiasts themselves who want examples on how cyberpsychology can be applied to different careers and job roles.

This is a companion resource which complements my forthcoming book "Building a career in cyberpsychology" which I hope will be useful for the community to continue to grow awareness on how cyberpsychology can be integrated in various sectors.

A massive thank you to all my case study subjects who have contributed to this and of course given permission to be included in the book itself:

You can find a link to the slidedeck here:

I've currently got 25 wonderful case studies featuring professionals who apply cyberpsychology in their professional practice. These will be featured in my forthcoming book "Building a career in cyberpsychology" but will also be a fabulous resource to support ongoing outreach to raise the visibility of cyberpsychology across sectors.

Thank you to all the fabulous people who have contributed case studies to this project ❤️

To give a mini taster, here are the wonderful Carolyn Freeman and Dr Genevieve Bartuski 🤩

Book will be published in early 2026...🤓

If you have interests in human behaviour online, then I might be able to help you!

I have been involved in cyberpsychology research since I started my PhD in 2007, and since then have built up a portfolio of work which answers questions such as:

- What are the nature of behaviours on social media?

- How does engaging in video games and social media relate to user well-being?

- What can online behaviour tell us about people's personality?

-Do we process emoji emotionally?

And much more!

I'm always keen to make connections especially if you are seeking some expertise to help you work through an issue you're trying to solve within your organisation or industry 🤩
