A potential customer kindly sent me a video today of a Honeybee swarm that had settled in his garden. He was concerned but after I explained to him he was great about leaving them.
Although a swarm can look quite alarming, it is usually nothing to panic about. When Honey Bees swarm, they are simply moving home. They are full of honey, have no nest or brood to defend at that point, and are normally very placid if left alone.
In many cases they will move on by themselves within 24–48 hours once scout bees have found a new suitable home.
Please don’t spray them, disturb them, throw water at them, or try to knock them down. The best thing to do is give them space and let them settle or move on naturally.
Honeybees are important pollinators and should be protected wherever possible.
Thank you so so much David for your amazing video 🙏
EDITED…The Bees moved on in-front of David the following morning ❤️🐝
