The Rural Planning Practice

The Rural Planning Practice The Rural Planning Practice provides a bespoke service for a wide range of planning matters.

We help landowners, occupiers and rural entrepreneurs unlock the potential of their land and assets. Our team has an excellent track record of gaining planning permission where others have failed. Projects in rural communities throw up their own set of challenges such as listed building consent, protected species, noise, highways and contamination. We are used to dealing with projects in designated land areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Success in Action: Habitat Management & Biodiversity Net Gain Secured.

We’re delighted to share a planning success story from West Berkshire. As part of a sensitive equestrian development—specifically, a course of 10 cross-country jumps—we collaborated closely with an expert ecology team to deliver a robust 10-year Habitat Management and Monitoring Plan, forming the backbone of a well-crafted Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) strategy.

Navigating BNG requirements can be complex—but our collaborative, carefully thought-through approach ensured the succes sful discharge of conditions and a clear pathway forward for this development. It’s an excellent example of how ecological stewardship and development goals can be harmoniously aligned.

Want to dive into the details of how we tackled this challenge and secured planning approval? Read the full case study here:

Planning success in West Berkshire.
We’ve secured approval for a 60 m × 40 m manège, carefully designed to respect the setting of a nearby Grade II listed house and Conservation Area. Our clear justification for the scale and location of the proposal was key to gaining approval.
