Brendon Hill Crafts

Brendon Hill Crafts Producers of fine preserves since 1984. We are eager to hear which are your favourites from the Brendon Hill Crafts range as we find ours.

Brendon Hill Crafts was founded 30 years ago, by Liz & David Jessup, as a cottage industry on the eastern edge of Exmoor, and close to the iron ore mine which we use as a logo on our labels. The business originally produced fudge, truffles and home-made preserves, although gradually the preserves took over full time. When Liz & David Jessup reached retirement age, Ruth and Derek took the decision

not to let the successful business disappear, and gave up their jobs to continue the family operation. Over the last sixteen years, they enjoyed a great deal of support from new and existing customers, and the business flourished. Now Richard and Lucinda have taken on the business following a transitional period with Ruth and Derek, and with their family, look forward to meeting Brendon Hill Crafts customers and consumers old and new. Brendon Hill Crafts is a family business through and through, and so if you are lucky enough to have a jar with a slightly wonky label, be sure it was one of the team of little helpers involved in supplying what we believe are amongst the tastiest range of preserves you can find. We currently operate from a purpose-designed kitchen on the edge of Barnstaple, cooking in small pans that produce 20-25 jars at a time. Jars are hand-filled, hand-labelled, and personally delivered to our customers over the whole of the Exmoor, West Somerset and North Devon area, as well as further afield occasionally. We supply a variety of farm shops, village stores, delis and tourist attractions, as well as tea rooms, hotels and B&Bs, who use our products. We attend a variety of shows and events throughout the year - see "Events" to find our next outing.

This February we are delighted to feature the fabulous Brendon Hill Crafts. 😋 Nestled in the heart of nature in the Blackdown Hills, Brendon Hill Preserves captures the essence of traditional craftsmanship and quality. Known for their exquisite range of homemade preserves for over 30 years.

Their Taunton Jelly has become a local favourite for its perfectly balanced sweetness and smooth, velvety texture. Made from the finest apples and local ciders and a secret recipe passed down through generations, it’s no wonder this delicious treat has gained such popularity – a true taste of the Southwest in every jar!

As a small family business specialising in the production of high-quality preserves. Traditional kitchen recipes, generous measures of fruit and always made in very small batches. For their award-winning jams, come along to the Farmshop this month to sample their amazing Chuckleberry and Whortleberry jam.
