Why do people often say they feel calmer after reflexology?

A study looked at people who had recently undergone coronary angiography, which is a hospital test used to check how well the blood vessels around the heart are working. It can feel worrying and uncomfortable for many people.
Those who received reflexology felt more relaxed, less anxious, and more comfortable than those who had a simple hand massage.
It’s a gentle reminder of how calming touch and taking time to pause can support comfort and ease during stressful moments.

Feeling stuck or irritated…?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Wood is linked with growth, movement and emotional flow.

When it’s a little out of balance, it can show up as frustration, irritability or that “stuck” feeling.

During a reflexology session, I may notice sensitivity around the liver reflex on the right foot.
In this approach, each element is associated with different areas of the body, as well as emotional patterns.

Some people also notice tension through the shoulders or a sense of strain around the eyes.

What may help:
• Gentle walks in nature — support movement and flow
• Slow, easy stretching — release held tension
• Deep breathing into the ribs — create space in the body
Short, clear, and still very grounded in your tone.

Stillness doesn’t mean stopping everything — it simply means finding calm within the movement.

Even when life feels busy or overwhelming, there is always a quiet space within you that you can return to. A gentle pause. A steady breath. A moment to reconnect.

Take a breath. Soften your shoulders. Come back to yourself.

In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you.

Have you tried it yet?

A beautifully calming ear ritual inspired by ancient Chinese medicine, where techniques have been passed down through the ages as part of a rich tradition of working with the body as a whole system.

This gentle treatment reflects the whole body through the ears, working close to the vagus nerve to encourage a deep sense of relaxation and ease.

With the ears so close to the brain, many people find the experience feels immediately soothing and immersive.

As with foot reflexology, the ear itself holds a detailed map used in acupuncture and related practices, with precise points that have been worked with for generations.

It’s delicate, focused, and surprisingly powerful in its ability to support a sense of balance and calm.

To deepen the experience, ear seeds are used — tiny beads placed on specific points of the ear, offering a gentle, continued reminder for the body to stay in a more relaxed state even after the treatment.

Often chosen by clients who are not only looking for relaxation, but for support around head tension, sinus discomfort, that blocked ear feeling, sleep difficulties, and general aches and pains.

A quiet way to slow down… through the ears.

Have you tried it yet? A beautiful stand alone reflexology treatment or upgrade your foot reflexology to include the ears.

In a world that moves quickly, your body often carries more than it needs to.
Tension settles, sometimes quietly.
Breathing becomes shallow, yet tight.
Sleep can feel just out of reach.

Reflexology offers a gentle way to slow everything down.
Through a soothing, rhythmical touch, your body is invited into a state of deep rest.
A chance to switch off… to feel held… to simply be.
If you’ve been feeling stretched, tired, or in need of a reset, this could be your moment to step into calm.
A little time for yourself can go a long way.

If you’ve been ‘fine’ for a bit too long… this is for you.

Sometimes ‘fine’ isn’t fine.

It’s carrying on, keeping going, holding everything together…
even when something underneath feels tired, unsettled, or overwhelmed.

You might not be in crisis.
You might not even know how to explain it.
But there can be a sense that you haven’t truly inhaled in a while.
When “fine” can be heavy to hold. Sighs become the 'norm'.

Reflexology offers a space where you don’t have to push through or pretend.
A space where your body can soften, your breathing can deepen, and your nervous system has the chance to slow down.

There’s no pressure to talk.
No expectation to be anything other than exactly as you are.
Just time to pause…
to be supported…
and to reconnect with yourself again.
If this resonates, you’re very welcome here.

"30 Days Wild is the UK's biggest nature challenge.

This June, choose one wild thing a day (or a few each week) - from giving nature a helping hand to simply noticing the wild on your doorstep. From planting wildflowers for bees, to listening to bird song or letting a corner of your garden grow a little wilder, there’s endless ways to spend your wild month".

During , it’s a reminder that nature is always there to support us, helping us unwind, breathe a little deeper, and find a sense of calm in the everyday.

Stepping outside, barefoot or not, feeling the grass, the soil, the sand — a simple way to slow down and come back to yourself.

Studies have shown grounding practices can help reduce inflammation, relieve stress, and improve sleep by restoring your body's electrical balance.

Try grounding for yourself- a simple connection of feet to the earth. You don't always need to go barefoot (although that seems to be best practice), walking mindfully or feeling the earth in your fingertips can have the same supportive effect.

No photos for this one!

I've got heavy, tired eyes this morning, is it just because I didn't need to get up? No one to run around after, a day off.
But dragged myself out of bed at usual time because I know that I need to keep a fairly strict sleep/wake routine or I'll not sleep well for the next few days.
One of the most reliable pieces of sleep advice that has worked for me. Other things that have worked are ear seeds and not being dehydrated at bedtime.
